Why do you think that hotels abroad are so anti-English? I have just spent a week at the Norida Beach and had a fantastic time - albeit at the top of a hill in a perfectly acceptable GREEK STYLE room. To be honest, I was very disappointed by the one english TV channel as I was expecting the full sky world family pack with sports and movies.
For the price I paid including flights, the value for money was unbelievable. The food was partially repetitive and partially varied. The staff were very helpful and the reason that some people get short shrift from them is because of the disgusting way that I witnessed other English people address them. One beetroot coloured merseysider screamed 'oi, pedro!' at one of the bar staff not only realising that she wasn't in Spain but also that he might have a name beyond the realm of her pea brained mind. Another one of my esteemed co-brits moaned at the cost of an excursion and then decided to do a vanishing act after the first stop!
All inclusive is an amazing concept. It means eat and drink all that you want - not all that you CAN physically hold in until you do a 'Mr Creosote' from the meaning of life! I witnessed a few british families who encouraged their kids to go up for their fifteenth coke of the evening because, lets face it, it is all paid for so why not and then these same parents didnt seem to mind them invading the games room and vandalising the pool tables in their sucrose induced hoohaa.
The best way to sum up all of the negative reviews on here is that this hotel is in Greece. Not Bognor Regis, but Greece. The entertainment was very Butlins, but A* for effort though especially the guy called Halleluja! When does he sleep? I saw him wandering around from dawn till dusk making everyone's holiday a little bit better. The other entertainment staff were just as willing although I am sure that other people were expecting something a little more professional, you know someone like Elton John or maybe they could have resurrected the late Frank Sinatra for a few numbers. Holiday entertainment has a long tradition of being total rubbish and long may it continue.
Traditionally, the attitudes of greek people towards foreign tourists is that one or two words of greek go a very long way. I lost count of the number of stone faced greek members of staff whose faces suddenly lit up when I said 'Kalimera' and 'Iasou'. It's not rocket science is it. I cringed at the number of people who thought that English spoke at a level 30 decibels higher makes it easier to understand for the exasperated waiters. Put yourself in their shoes, would you like to be screamed at in polish or french in the middle of London? Would you understand it better? No, you bloody well wouldnt!
Don't get me wrong, there are many things in this hotel that could be improved. Unfortunately, one of them is that they should stop putting up with English visitors who are unaware that the empire has shrunk. I do agree however that the rep was one step removed from useless. The list of available excursions diminished literally by the minute and the people who complained about having hot water problems didn't seem to be getting anywhere either. To be fair, he did seem to be stretched between a huge range of different hotels so this is more the fault of his employer. I think to use the word 'rep' is a little off the mark.
To conclude, I would definitely go here in the low season when the prices are very, very reasonable considering what is included. 24 degrees in October is perfect. Looking at the summer prices, I would steer well clear seeing as the heat can be very uncomfortable in these months. Overally, the hotel was excellent value for money, I was just ashamed to be English and other English couples I spoke to were of exactly the same opinion. If we can change the way we behave on holiday, we may start to get the same excellent treatment as the Germans, Russians, Belgians, French and indeed any other nation of people who are not so small minded that they believe that the holiday industry revolves around them.
