My birthday is next Thursday. Next week is the week before finals in a quarter that has truly spawned from hell. Since I was 19 I have always done something to celebrate my natal day, usually a party. Last year's didn't go so well for me, because most of my friends weren't able to make it. If I do nothing else, I usually bake myself a birthday cake--that way I get the fun of playing in the batter, licking the spoon, bowl, and my fingers, and I get exactly the flavour cake I want.

Even when life is hectic there is always a way to mark your birthday with something special, even if you only budget an hour instead of a day. Trust your inner child to pick something that feels celebratory to you! You are worth it!

You're never too old to celebrate your birthday! In a couple of weeks I'm going to a luncheon party for my granddad's 93rd. :)

The date + concert idea sounds lovely. Actually, a nice dinner out with just a few friends is one of my personal fave birthday celebrations.
