Lead Technical Writer, Network Storage Business Unit
Description: Document software and hardware for network storage products aimed at the home and business markets.
This is an on‐site position at NETGEAR’s North San Jose campus.
Responsibilities:
 Create task‐oriented documentation for new products in fast‐paced business environment
 Update existing hardware and software documentation
 Track documentation deliverables as part of an overall product development schedule
 Liaise with external writing contractors to ensure their writing meets the overall schedule
 Coordinate illustrations and editing
 Work hand‐in‐glove with project engineers and product managers to clarify and resolve issues
 Handle special projects
 Work cross‐functionally with local and remote teams, including software and hardware engineers, QA, tech
support, localization, and marketing
 Distill and communicate technical information to audiences with a wide range of technical knowledge
 Follow departmental and company policies to create and release documentation
 Readily adapt to changing priorities
 Attend on‐site weekly cross‐functional team status meetings
 Manage multiple projects
Required skills:
 Excellent technical writer who enjoys learning and writing about technology in clear, concise English
 Detail oriented
 Mastery of American English grammar
 Ability to comply with style guidelines
 Work independently and in a team environment
Desired skills:
 Knowledge of networking technologies
 Knowledge of storage technologies
 Familiarity with task‐based technical writing principles
 Proficiency with technical authoring tools, preferably FrameMaker 10, Acrolinx plug‐in, and InDesign
 Experience with single‐source technical writing, especially DITA
 Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat Professional
 Familiarity with print and online document delivery
