On writing: I've been surprised at how easy it's been recently for me to write seeming volumes for my classes and in emails to friends, and since that's what I've been doing, there's been little left for this journal. It's all coming naturally, and I'm not feeling like I have to fill up those several pages, but striving not to. This speaks even ( Read more... )

Before I came to UF, I could count the friends that I made since high school on one hand. However, that isn't a reflection on the number of friends I have, but does tell the story of how many friends I keep ahold of. To say it simply: of all my friends, most of them are from high school and before.

I've made some in Florida that I think it likely to keep. Perhaps some of that is due to my realization that I wasn't making new friends in the years between high school and grad school. (There are a few from college - but most of the people I hung around with as an undergrad were high school friends previously.)

The short term friendships were not less for the fact that they were short term. Keep in mind I moved too much to keep them any longer than six months or less.
