Introduction Questions
Give a two or three word description of them.
- Ambitious magnificent bastard
Do they have any nicknames, street names, titles, nom de plume?
- Well, on Salkia he’s been called: Kaiba-kun, Kaiba-baka, Kaiba-boy, Kaiba-ni, Domino-uke, Blue-eyes Kaiba-kun, Rich-boy, Moneybags, Seto-ai, Kaiba-person, Executive Grumpy-pants, and Mr. Fancy-robe. Most of those were given to him by one person. At home, he’s just CEO and President of Kaiba Corporation. Sometimes also the former Duel Monsters world champion or the runner-up world champion, but he doesn’t like using those much.
What is their full birth name?
- Kaiba Seto
Where do they live?
- Domino City, Japan. Or on Salkia, currently in the apartment building.
Why do they live there?
- He was born in Domino and has kept his permanent residence there ever since. Salkia…he’s there because some girl put him there. He certainly has no interest in staying.
What is their citizenship status?
- Born citizen of Japan, and resident of Salkia. There’s no citizenship status there.
What is their most obvious blessing or strength?
- He’s intimidating as hell. Very few people have the guts to refuse when Kaiba Seto is staring them down.
What do they perceive as their greatest strength?
- Determination. When he wants something, he will stop at nothing to get it. It’s gotten him everything he’s reached for so far, save for his Duel Monsters title and his freedom from Salkia Island.
What is their most obvious flaw or weakness?
- His pride.
What do they perceive as their greatest weakness?
- His attachments, including Mokuba. He’s accepted it and wouldn’t break it for the world, though.
Physical Traits
How old are they?
- In canon, he’s somewhere between 16 and 18 depending on what you’re looking at. On Salkia, he just turned 20 in October.
What is their gender?
- Very male.
What is their species/race?
- Human, though he may not act like it.
How tall are they?
- 6’1(186 cm)
How much do they weigh?
- 143 lbs(65 kg). Underweight for his height, but not quite anorexic.
What is their general body type, frame, bone structure, and poise?
- Kaiba has been trained to take control in all situations, so he stands to be commanding. His frame helps him with that. He’s very tall and lanky, most of his height made up in leg. He’s also very angular in structure, his pointed hair leading to a sharp chin and broad shoulders for his weight. He stands up and sits completely straight, and strides across the room like nothing else matters but what he’s doing. His trench accentuates the affect, making him look broader and creating attention with those large tails.
What is their skin colour?
- Pale. He spends most of his time inside working.
What is their hair colour?
- Brown
What is their hair style?
- It’s a mullet, there are no excuses for it. It goes down most of his neck in the back while his bange hang in a heavy fringe over his eyes. It helps to hide what might show through them as well as encourages the whole intimidation attempt.
Do they have any facial hair?
- Nope.
What is their eye colour?
- Blue, of a darker and more saturated shade
Does it change?
- Not really, though with the way his hair sits, it might look like it does.
How attractive are they?
- It’s not really a factor he considers himself, unless it will really put him at an advantage in whatever deal he’s making, but he’s got the tall dark and handsome thing down pretty well if you can get past the intimidation. Being a billionare doesn’t hurt either.
What is their most distinguishing feature?
- His height (for most people), followed quickly by his eyes if he’s staring at you directly. Some might also notice those gravity-defying coats.
Do they have any scars, tattoos, or birthmarks? If so, how did they acquire them?
- Kaiba has multiple scars, most of them making a net over his back. Those are the results of punishments he received for failing Gozaburo’s challenges. He goes to great lengths to cover them, to save himself from annoying and fruitless explanation. He has also gained a few smaller scars right over his heart, from when a Heartless ripped out his heart.
What is their handedness (left/right/ambidextrous)?
- He writes his checks and spins his pens with the right hand, of course!
What is their hand size/description?
- His fingers are long and slender as the rest of him, and he’s very dexterous. He has to be, to work with small machinery and to handle his cards like he does. His nails are arched and seem to be taken care of quite well. To be taken seriously in the business world, you have to dress well. His nails are likely an extension of that, especially when his hobby of choice requires them to be the center of attention.
Do they resemble some currently known person?
- Not really, though his eye shape was more similar to Mokuba’s when he was younger. His hair is thick like his brother’s too, though much more tamed.
Do they wear a uniform?
- When he was under Gozaburo’s thumb, he favored single colored suits with tight Prussian collars. He’s worn the school uniform whenever he’s seen there. But normally you will see him with the trench coats.
What kind of clothing do they wear?
- High collared and long trench coats, usually in cool colors or white. The tails always flare out at his hips, no matter what the weather. Underneath, he favors long sleeved shirts (sometimes turtle-necks), a heavy Kaiba Corporation belt, dark slacks, and boots. At his most flashy, he wears metal arm bracers and two smaller belts on each limb. The trench coats also often have metal studs in them. For work, he wears a white suit and shoes with a blue shirt and tie of differing shades. There is a locket shaped like a Duel Monsters card that he always wears, no matter what.
What is their clothing's style or level of sophistication?
- He wants to catch attention and keep it. When he’s dueling, he does it with big coats and flashy metals. There’s no way you could miss him, or what company he’s from. He usually wears the KC logo somewhere on his person. Even in the office, he’s trying to be the center of attention. He is the only one out of his executives who wears white, and you better believe it stays spotless.
What size are they for various pieces of clothing?
- He could get away with mediums, but they must be extra long. Usually his clothing is specially made for him, so it doesn’t have a size listed.
Do they wear makeup?
- Besides the makeup everyone wears for press conferences, interviews, and the like, no.
Do they wear glasses/contacts?
- Not now. He spends all his time staring at a computer screen though, so he’ll probably need reading glasses by the time he’s 30.
What sort of vocal tone do they have?
- Bold. He doesn’t speak unless he has something to say, and he is going to make sure you hear it. When he’s dueling, this gets even more pronounced. He can make some serious speeches when he wants to.
Do they get sick?
- Popular opinion would say no, and Kaiba would very much like you to think that way, but he does get sick occasionally. Probably much less than he should, considering his lifestyle. But when he does get sick, he tries to ignore it as long as he can. If he can’t ignore it, he tries to take care of himself. He doesn’t want to tell anyone, though Mokuba usually finds out.
Family
Who were their parents?
- Kaiba had a mother and a father, real names and careers unknown. My headcanon comes from my favorite writer of Kaiba brothers fic, which gives them the real last name of Yagami. I usually go with that if it’s necessary, but we really don’t know his parents names and Kaiba doesn’t talk about it at all. I also like to think that Kaiba’s mother was not from Japan and she had the last name Priest.
Were they raised by them?
- Not after Kaiba turned five or six.
If not, then why didn't they and who did raise them?
- Canon isn’t clear on this, but fanon usually agrees that his mother died giving birth to Mokuba. Kaiba’s father died soon after, reason unknown. Headcanon says he died in a car accident, because he was so affected from losing his wife. After that, their relatives (usually considered an aunt or uncle) took the boys in only to squander all their inheritance and dump them off at an orphanage. Really, the one who had the most impact in raising Kaiba was his adopted father Kaiba Gozaburo. He was very rarely called father though, even more rarely done in a serious fashion.
What is their father's full name?
- Unknown. Headcanon says Yagami Soujiro, or something else with an ‘S’
What is their mother's full name?
- Unknown. Yagami something.
What is their mother's maiden name?
- Unknown. . Headcanon says something western, with the last name meaning ‘Priest’.
What did their parents and/or foster parents do for a living?
- Unknown. His parents must have made a decent living to leave the boys an inheritance, so his father was probably at least a middle management salaryman. Kaiba Gozaburo was the wealthiest man in Domino City as the CEO of Kaiba Corporation. It was making weaponry at the time.
What was their standing in the community?
- Unknown. Nobody stepped in to take the boys or check up on them, so it wasn’t likely that the family had many very close friends or was anybody famous. Kaiba Gozaburo, of course, was practically the king of Domino.
Did their family stay in one area or move around a lot?
- Seto was placed into a Domino City orphanage, so he was at least living there with his aunt and uncle. He likely had stayed there his entire life, or at least close by.
How did they get along with their parents?
- He barely knew them, but headcanon says they loved him very much while they were alive. He was too clever for his own good, but at his age it only made him endearing. Gozaburo was treated as an enemy or an opponent to defeat. The older man actively promoted that mindset to keep Seto sharp.
How would their parents describe them?
- While they were living, his mother probably thought he was the most adorable thing ever. They were proud of his intelligence and would be proud of all he has accomplished with it now. Then again, he is very different than the son they used to know, so I’m not sure if they would be able to describe him as he is now. Gozaburo would call him a cocky little shit.
Do they have any siblings?
- Oh yes.
If so how many and what were their names?
- One biological, one step. Mokuba is his biological brother, and Noa is the stepbrother.
What was their birth position in the family?
- Seto is five years older than his younger brother. Noa is as old as he is, but has been a consciousness suspended in virtual reality for several years, so.
How did they get along with each of their siblings?
- Mokuba is Kaiba’s world. Everything he’s done since his parents’ death can be traced back to trying to protect or ensure Mokuba’s happiness. He’s become father, mother, and sibling all in one. As a consequence, Mokuba has also become his greatest weakness, something Kaiba is very aware of. Still, he has no interest in changing their very deep bond.
Noa is a completely different subject. Kaiba didn’t even know about him until he hijacked the Battle City tournament. During the cource of that hijacking, Noa messed with his tournament, replayed some difficult memories, tried to steal his body and those of the Yuugi-tachi, and worst of all tried to kidnap and turn Mokuba against him. Noa ended up freeing all of them before the virtual world was destroyed by Gozaburo, but that’s not enough for Kaiba to forgive him completely. Mokuba seemed to like him though, so Kaiba’s not as hard against him as he has a right to be.
What was their family life like?
- Chaotic, because he barely had one. After his parents left him and his relatives abandoning him, Kaiba threw himself into looking after Mokuba. They have made their own little family, Kaiba protecting and looking after Mokuba the best that he can, while Mokuba makes sure his Nii-sama doesn’t work himself to death. No one else was allowed to intrude on that. Kaiba only gave up on that when Gozaburo started taking an interest in the younger boy. Kaiba recognized it as an attempt to manipulate himself, so he rejected Mokuba to draw Gozaburo away. It worked, until he started believing in what he was doing. It took a mind crush and a year in a coma to set himself straight.
List all current knowledge of family locations, spouses, children, birth dates, schooling and any important incidents that only they and they might remember.
- Mokuba is still alive and at the Kaiba Mansion still going to middle school(Seto hopes.) His birthday is July 7th and is the only holiday Kaiba takes seriously.
Noa is probably destroyed, though could possibly be floating around cyber space somewhere. Kaiba hasn’t bothered to check, and hasn’t really been able to while he’s been on Salkia Island.
Both Kaiba brothers know where their parents’ ashes are stored. Mokuba goes to visit and tend the monument occasionally, Kaiba does not. He feels that that part of his life is over, and there is no point in tending to ash that won’t notice if their space is clean or not.
Theoretically, the relatives who abandoned the brothers are still alive
Are any or all of their family still alive?
- Obviously, Mokuba is still alive. His relatives who abandoned them are still alive as well.
Do they stay in touch with them or have they become estranged?
- He’s Mokuba’s legal guardian. . Kaiba hasn’t made any effort to contact the relatives who abandoned him or associate with them at all since they entered the orphanage. Someday, though, he wants them to come forward to try and ask him for money, so he has an excuse to rip them apart publicly. Gozaburo was divorced, and didn’t seem to have any other family.
Do they love or hate one member of the family in particular?
- One specific person, no. Those people who abandoned him, though…
Is any member of the family special to them in any way (perhaps, as a confidant, mentor, or arch-rival)?
- As awful as Kaiba Gozaburo was, Kaiba saw him as a mentor and someone to look up to. He saw how powerful the older man was and wanted it for himself.
Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including them)?
- Kaiba only really associates with Mokuba, and only really cares about what his younger brother thinks of him. Mokuba seems to like him, so that’s all fine.
Do they have a notorious or celebrated ancestor?
- We don’t know anything about his birth family or the Kaibas, but Gozaburo was pretty notorious.
What do people assume about them once their ancestry is revealed?
- People pity orphan children, which is why Kaiba doesn’t like to talk about it. Again, he considers it part of his past, and therefore completely irrelevant to the man he is now.
Have they begun their own family?
- He considers himself and Mokuba an inseperable team, which is as close to a family as he really seems to want. He does seem more tolerant, however, to lingering around the edges of Atem’s ‘adopted family’.
If not, do they ever want to have a family of their own someday?
- He never planned for it, but he doesn’t mind kids. The harder part would be finding someone to share his life with.
What type of person would be their ideal mate?
- He needs someone who can deal with his shit. Kaiba has a lot of trust and abandonment issues. He’s never going to feel comfortable completely opening up to anyone, and they need to understand that. He’s also reluctant to touch and isn’t very romantic in the traditional way. They’ll also have to be at least tolerant of his overprotective nature. He refuses to lose what he has. But to catch his interest in the first place, they’ll have to excel at something. If they can defeat him, even better. They’d have to be intelligent, practical, and mature. Kaiba won’t tolerate idiocy for very long.
What would they be willing to do to protect such a person?
- If he really cared about them, he’d be willing to go to the brink of death. Mokuba is always the priority, so while the boy is still young and needs to be looked after, Kaiba won’t kill himself off completely. When he’s older, Kaiba will be willing to die for that person, no question.
PART 2!
