YOUR SOUND CARD WORKS PERFECTLY

I made a request in one of the BDM guys' journal many months ago regarding sound input devices for a PC. I was looking at a firewire box, but an internal recording card seems to be much more affordable for me. Anyway, someone responded with a sound card suggestion, but I don't remember which one it was. Depends on your price range and how many channels of I/O you want.

The E-MU 1820m is probably one of the best internal sound cards for the money ($300 to $400).

I've always thought external stuff was a better idea, especially with PCI now fading away. For USB/FireWire interfaces, PreSonus is a good bet. Their stuff isn't the best you can buy, but the prices are reasonable and it is better than m-audio or Behringer.

The PreSonus FireBox is a few years old, but very popular and sounds good. Their new USB AudioBox is a steal for the price.

It could be argued that the Echo stuff is even better quality for a similar price:

And if you've got more to spend, there are always things from these guys:

$300 is probably on the upper end of what I'd like to pay for hardware right now, which is why I didn't end up nabbing a firebox a few months ago when I was actively looking. That Echo Audiofire 4 looks pretty good for $250, though. The Audiobox is certainly in my price range, but I think I'd still prefer four inputs to two (assuming I read those specs correctly).

Hmm, looks like I've got a bit more poking around to do. Thanks for the input!

Yes, the AudioFire4 is a 4x4 I/O box. Great deal, I think.
