Thoughts on Ningen Shikkaku
I went to the library yesterday and had 2 outrageously pleasant surprising finds! :D One of it is a 1994 drama Ningen.Shikkaku (Which was the first drama Kinki Kids acted in when they were 15!) in novel form.

I have to say this was the first time I ever felt so disgusted, torn and heart-wrenched while reading a fiction book. I cried like a mad woman when Makoto died. Here's the synopsis of the story:
Characters: Ooba Makoto(Domoto Tsuyoshi), Kageyama Ruka(Domoto Koichi) (you really ONLY need to know these two. :X)
Synopsis: Ooba Makoto is an intelligent 15 year old boy who transferred into a high society private boys school. From there on, began his nightmare of being victimized by his classmates, bodily punishment by a PE teacher and misunderstanding between his father and himself. All these led to his death by jumping off the school rooftop.
Makoto's father came to realize the truth behind his son's death and started to plan his revenge against the teachers and the students who started this tragedy...
Thoughts: This story really delves into the cruelty, selfishness of humans. My heart was thrown all over the place as I read how Makoto is being maligned, threatened, victimized by both classmates and teachers and suffered so much till he died. You start to wonder whether the school was a sane, safe place when the top year 3 class acted so..... inhuman and the teachers... so heartless.
My heart went all out to Makoto. He was REALLY REALLY innocent. He tried his best to make his father proud, he did nothing wrong at all... and yet... everything was targeted at him. Let me quote a sentence from his letters to a ex-school friend he wrote to.

It was so heartwrenching!!! I don't know where to begin about where everything and everyone is wrong!!! The PE teacher has such brutal and merciless ways in torturing Makoto. The classmates are seriously mad. There's something very very wrong with them. 4 classmates form a 'gang' and they take turns in being bullied when the 'target' gets pointed to them. NO ONE was to get away from it. And then, the target got shifted to Makoto the first day he came.
Kageyama Ruka met Makoto and became friends with a very strange friendship bond. Ruka is... there's something really wrong with this guy from the start. He claims to be Makoto's friend, yet he didn't protect Makoto and just watched on when he got bullied. Then, he started to protect Makoto for a while, after receiving 'orders' from the female teacher in charge that he thought he was in love with. And then... he realized that he was in love with Makoto when Makoto jumped to his death before him. After that, he went crazy. Reduced to an infant mind in a 15 year old body.
Omg, I can just go on and on about this, but I shan't! I shall stop here!!! If you would like to know more and can read chinese, please do borrow the book from our NLB!!!! And then you'll know how heartbreaking and dark this story is. *sobs* I continued reading until 5:30am .__. With super puffy read eyes from crying madly.
I really want to watch the drama .__. And maybe cry like mad again when Makoto dies. GRAAAAA!!!!
