The last book I read that had that kind of effect on me was Skin Deep by E.M. Crane. It is about a 15 year old girl with low self esteem who is made to dog sit for an eccentric old woman with cancer. I literally couldn't stop reading it till I finished.

I havent heard of that book. Hopefully i can find it at bookstores! Thanks for the recommendation it sounds intriguing! :)
