I would like to live a much simpler lifestyle. I would love to live in a much more simple society. I find modern living stressful and largely undesirable. Mortgages, taxes, economic downturns, corporate politics, post-modern meaninglessness and a distinct lack of concrete models and modes of living. We have so many modern conveniences and yet life is still lived rushing from this place to that place to get this thing or that thing done before we can sit down to rest and enjoy the rest of the day. Which ends up being about 10 minutes before going to bed, to start the whole process over again.

There's little thought that goes into day to day living. Consideration is lacking as is common (more like uncommon) sense. We seem to be out of touch with reality, REAL reality, the things that make us move and breathe and think and love. It's about the goals and not the path to reach them. The attitude that when I have achieved this, accomplished that or bought that really neat shiny, I'll be satisfied.

i totally agree! when things are simplified, right down to our food sources, people tend to be happier AND healthier. (sorry, been reading "the omnivore's dilemma" by michael pollan.) it's just true. there's tons of scientific literature supporting it, and that modern-day living is stressful and affects/impedes our happiness, both as individuals and as a whole.
