Have you seen the film Perfume: The Story of a Murder? The last bit of your story kind of reminded me of its theme. It also has Alan Rickman!

No, I haven't seen Perfume - it's on the to-watch/read list. I only know the barest outline, but with perfume + serial killer, I did wonder if this would stray into that territory at all... It's the prompts' fault!

Beautiful fic that captures their relationship perfectly. There's a hint that there might be some potential Sweenett in the wings but it's all nicely in character. I especially loved the comparison of Lucy and Mrs Lovett's perfumes.
