Sam went back to bed wishing that he was big enough to keep Dean safe, and glad that Dad was.

It was so nice to see the softer side of John, and that Sam got to see it too, if only briefly. And I loved the comparison you made between daddy Winchester tucking Dean under his arm for comfort, and Dean being the one to do the same for Sam. That was perfect!

The comparison made me happy to write. I don't imagine Dean could've made it through his whole life without a word of comfort from John, and while I'd expect John to tell him to "man up" if he broke his leg on a hunt, in the face of nightmares of Mary, he'd still be the firstborn little boy that was all John's hopes and dreams before she died.

Oh the part where Sam sees Dean curled up with John sleeping was SO GOOD.

OMG. Bless you for this. It was heart breaking and heart warming at the same time. I love Sammy not begruding Dean for that bond he had with their Dad. And kudos for a caring John. There's far too little of that in fandom.

Aww, thank you for the awesome comment. I can't imagine Sammy being too jealous of Dean for getting hugs from John, when he's certainly never been short on his own hugs from either of them. Somebody's gotta take care of his big brother, and the only person more invincible than Dean to Sammy is Dad. And I'm glad so many people loved my John. I just can't imagine him being a total ass when the boys were little. I imagine he got harder on them as they grew up, but he loved those boys. It's in his eyes every time he looked at them.

Exactly. I was just saying some of these people really need to watch Dead Man's Blood again and pay attention because John admits his shortcomings and apologizes for it TO SAMMY. I could ramble forever with you about the love John has for his boys but I'll let you get back to creating more awesome John stories. ;D
