Sam sees that Dean ends up with Lisa...but what about Sam? Where's his happiness? He deserves a family too, more family than just Dean.

I think in the end they'll really only have each other. It's how they're made. The heaven episode pretty much went out and said they were soulmates. But Sam could always meet another Jessica/Dean replacement (no accident they had the same bday either) in a library in Cicero.

Sam's happiness at this point is being able to save Dean from the pain of the last five years. Without the apocalypse and hell... a girlfriend is the easy part.

Between this line:
He thought about the years that only he would remember, all the people he would do his best to make sure they never met.

and these:
Sam swallowed the joyful laugh that threatened to tear itself from his throat as Dean’s face lit up. “She’s a yoga teacher,” he smirked lasciviously.

“I know,” Sam whispered.

I don't know which made my heart ache more. Very lovely.

**in spite of LJ's evil plans, I will post the correct comment, darn it!**

Oh, thank you for the lovely comment. I'm glad those two bits stood out to you, they hurt to write.

You know, I wouldn't mind at all if it ended like this, saving all those people to meet later in a way that won't kill them. But only if we could somehow keep Castiel. I'm not gonna lie I love him just as much as I do Sam. And Dean, well, let's not even get into that, no character better ever. Maybe they could do it where they go back in time together. Knowing what they know now, being who they are now. Dean won't just die without his father and Sam. And Sam will kill for Dean and has finally learned what sacrifice means. There are several points where they could change everything if they went back.

Yeah, the thought of no Cas was what prompted me to put in the line about the people thay'd never meet. It made me sad to think of never meeting him.

Way to rewrite destiny!

I ache for Sam knowing he will have to shoulder the secret alone. The way you wrote it made my heart break and yet also be happy. The way you described Dean's innocence was spot on perfect.

I kinda wish you would turn this into a whole alternate reality series, it could be awesomeQ

I've actually given a bit of consideration to that, though I had no intention of making it a series when I wrote it. We'll see. My muse is a fickle bitch, and I just write what she throws me. She won't take directions, or I'd already be done with that 5.22 coda I mentioned oh... a month ago. I'm glad you liked this, the bittersweet happy/sad was what I was going for, and the preservation of Dean's 'innocence' was Sam's goal. Glad to know those points worked.
