My first Arashi translation, yayy!!! :D I love Nino's More interviews; they show his character quite well. I might work on the untranslated interviews if I have time. >.>

- 4th of September, the last day of their Kokuritsu concerts. At the last greetings, Nino said this.
"Recently, it's become a very convenient time - a lot of people who want to see Arashi can see them in various things but if you really want to see the real Arashi, there's no other place but here(concerts).”
- I thought those were really nice words. When we told him he’d said that, he replied back bluntly “I said that? I totally don’t remember.”
“Because I don’t really think and then speak. (laughs) What I say is what I mean. But, truth is, among all the jobs we do, concerts is the only one that comes close to want we want to create 100%; it’s a precious place where everyone can see the things we want to do.”
- On 2010.09.15, Arashi will reach their 11th year since formation. But Nino says that’s pre-Arashi talk.
“I think Arashi’s real start is on our CD debut on the 3rd of November. Especially in my case - when our debut was announced, I wanted to do behind the scenes work rather than in the front. I really wanted to become a stage director; I was preparing to go study abroad…Until November, I was only thinking of running away. For Johnny’s, debuting is a really lucky but for, it wasn’t like that. I guess when we debuted, my feelings to leave kind of died down. Because I was able to do jobs “in the front”, I met a lot of people and gained a lot of experience. I’m really grateful for that now.
- As usual, he loves creating things; even in his private life, if he has time, he’d be creating something. Nino’s trivial saying and point of view is close to that of a person who works behind the scenes. But….
“Front work and behind the scenes work. Which one suits me more… I don’t think about that anymore. I mean, when you’re in the front, you don’t have to carry a behind-the-scenes opinion because only things on the surface matter. Every job is like that but in the end, it’s more about the experience than your qualities, right? I’ve been doing this job for half my life and I quite depend on that experience.”
- So, experience is a double-edged sword. On one hand, you master things but you concentrate too much on your surroundings and what’s behind you; you can’t work with all your strength and there are some things you can’t say or do - it surely becomes like this.
“I understand that but I think it’s due to carelessness. If you fail once but don’t try that thing again, there’s no progress. If I’m being extreme - if, on the 1rst year, if you failed at something but you want to do it, you continue and you succeed by the 5th year, that’s success. And the right way to grow. If experience is not connected to growth, there’s no point, I think.”
- If you seriously want to know someone, you have to be with him all the time.
“Ever since our debut, I’ve had a nasty tongue (laughs) When I appeared on a radio show with the members, I was scolded by the listeners and the jimusho, “You’re too mean. Don’t say such awful things to the members!” When that happened, I used to feel down but, on the other hand, I thought “Your approach isn’t wrong. There are no other members you can scold in this way.” And that’s why I didn’t change. At that time, I didn’t quit and continued on in that way, that’s why now it’s said that I’m “a good tsukkomi” Though, if I overdo it, I still get scolded (laughs) I think the jimusho wanted me to be a normal “honors student” but, in reality, while I have some of those characteristics, but the parts of me that aren’t changeable won’t change, of course.
Of course, I didn’t manage to grow up all by myself. The jimusho and staff who continue on giving me great work helped too. The present Arashi is a result of the path paved by the jimusho mixing well with our characters.”
- Nino is a person who has two sides. He’s deeply distrustful and at times he’s so shockingly blunt. Once he’s decided, he doesn’t give up. His words both have a “front” and “back” side but they’re not lies. The things he says are interesting but really hard to grasp/understand.
“It’s sad but I think there’s no way one person can fully understand another. All relationships are like this. When you learn something you were curious about, that’s just a relationship of mutual trust. If you really want to know someone, you have to ignore the rest and be with that person all the time, right? I really love Arashi’s members and they’re very important to me but I don’t think I know their real selves at all. If I want to really know them, I have to have one-on-one talks. If it’s always the 5 of us, that won’t be possible (laughs)"
- Do you want to know the person you love, or not. Do you want to know yourself inside out, or not.
“I don’t really know but I think it’s good that we don’t know people completely.”
