Well, after a few doctor visits and an ultrasound, I've found out that I have liver disease. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, aka fatty liver disease. It's managed through diet, exercise, and sometimes antidiabetic drugs. The goal is to keep it from progressing to cirrhosis. Well, they're cute in a scrawny sort of way. *lol* And they have AMAZING eyes. And it's not actually that they're /abandoned,/ per se, it's that once their racing career is over, they either wind up adopted or killed. :/ My mom was saying, "so basically they breed these dogs in the HOPES that some of them will be really good racers, and the rest are killed if they aren't adopted?!" and it's sorta like, '...yeah, basically, except even the good racers can only race like five years, and they can LIVE to be, like, fourteen...' Anyway, it's not cool.

Also, yay dog! Greyhounds actually look pretty neat to me, in person. Except I'd need to miniaturize one to have it, and then the cats would chase it around and terrorize the poor thing.

And yay for retired grayhounds! There's a rescue that has "come pet the grayhounds" days at our mall sometimes, and they're awesome (even if I don't like dogs enough to go and pet them myself, heh). Sounds like one'd be a good fit for you once your schedule settles. :-)
