Art: The Eagle Movie Poster (somewhat) abstracted

Jan 03, 2013 15:05

The tiles I made got me in an art-deco mood, and combined with a documentary I watched on the beginning of modern art and decided to try a different style. Although it isn’t really apparent I was inspired by Franz Marc’s the Fox:

And I always thought the composition of the movie poster was very interesting.

In the first one I really like Esca’s face, but I don’t like what I did with the background, it’s too busy. Also I ended up putting in way more detail in the armor than I meant to. So I decided to try it again.

Yeah, Marcus’ head in this is too big, but I don’t really mind. I felt like I did a better job of simplifying the image the second time around. It was fun trying to pare down what I’m drawing when I usually do the opposite, so in that respect I think the exercise was a sucess, and I think they look interesting as well
