Art: Downton Abbey: Sybil/Gwen watercolor

Notes: I've done a few watercolors, but mostly by flying by the seat of my pants and using really tiny brushes. Color theory, mixing, washes, I have no idea what those things are or how to do them properly, which was why this process was more frustrating than most.

I'm not sure they need to be closer, there's something about them - a tension that suggests they are *just* about to lean forward, which is rather lovely.

Good, that's similar to what the spouse said: "So just *what* are they about to do?" I was at least considering making them hold hands, but altering anything when watercolor still makes me so uncomfortable was out of the question.

And I've got to say I highly respect your skill with acrylic. I tried it again and once more it defeated me.

I think it looks like an awkward kiss is about to happen. A very spontaneous one where there is accidental nose bumpage and then they will both look terribly surprised and embarrassed. They are just a bit too close for it just to be a conversation and both their arms are sort of held backwards a tiny bit, so I don't think they are thinking of handholding. Also Sybil is looking at Gwen with an intensity that would be quite uncomfortable if it were merely conversational. :-D

I feel the same about watercolours; I can't get on with them at all!
