In all seriousness, day one of the retro journaling challenge starts now. Because I said I was participating, and so I shall. Not to go all Bridget Jones on everyone (except I totally am going all Bridget Jones on everyone), but here's a rundown of today:

And God, yes, Jiggles is so devastatingly attractive it almost causes me physical pain. His profile. His forearms. His hands. Unf. Leave me. Leave me here to die. I am done.

And yeah! I was just commenting to riverlight, after a lengthy chat about Aaron Sorkin, how I'd almost forgotten you could, y'know, talk to people, lol.
Tumblr is great for showcasing art and graphics, but it's almost like the developers don't want people interacting. Even the concept of the fan mail/ask box system implies very limited/one-sided communication. Alas, by the time I tried participating actively in fandom, it looked like the majority of people had migrated to tumblr. And I wanted to be with all the people... ;_;

Thisssss. I was always a lurker and even though the organisation of tumblr should be ideal for someone like me, I still miss the journaling times of fandom (where I could creep in the comment section :x ) I miss the conversations that journal format encouraged. tumblr is awesome for pretty but it's not suited to, well, text.

I do like that tumblr has given graphic artists / artists in general more of a chance to shine. LJ's text-heavy nature sometimes meant they were overlooked. But the way tumblr is set up (rapid turnover of content on the dashboard, the word limits on practically EVERYTHING) effectively forces anyone who doesn't create content into a more passive consumer role.
(Why, tumblr? We could've had it aaaaaall. Rolling in the deeeeeeep...)
