And the journey begins.....

As some of you know, my husband was diagnosed with gastric cancer just over a month ago.  It was a bolt out of the blue and apparently very fast acting--he's probably had the mass around 4 to 6 months.  He's been poked, prodded and scoped from stem to stern and we just got the word today that after two more consults, he'll be ready to start the ( Read more... )

Thanks for bringing us up to date. It is always good to get good news about health matters and it sounds like Bernie's treatment will require less time in the hospital.

I will continue to pray for more good news.

Thanks, Kate. It was such a relief to get the news and to know that we can finally start to move from diagnosis to treatment. Giddyup! Again, your support means more than I can say.

I'm so glad you've got some positive news and a way forward. Once the treatment begins then it'll be easier to feel that you're doing something to fight the cancer. I'm glad to hear you've had lots of support from friends and family, too - you're going to need that.

The future isn't grim, even when it's unknown! Thinking of you and praying for you both.

Thanks, Ros. Sorry for the delay in replying. The last week or so has been a whirlwind of activity with preparations for his in-patient stay which has been confirmed for Sunday, the 27th. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. Enjoy your short return to the US--we're glad to have you back.

I'm sorry I didn't get to comment earlier -- I didn't have time to be coherent when I first read it, so I had to remember to come back!

I actually hadn't heard about your hubby (how'd I miss that??!), but I'm so glad that y'all have got some good news and a way to go forward. I know it's not an easy road, no matter what, but I'm glad your friends and family are able to provide support and help.

And if there's ANYthing I can do -- esp. taking over some betaing or whatever!! -- just let me know ANYtime!!

I'm sending loads of good thoughts and prayers and *HUGS* to both of you (and your kids/family, too!!)

Thanks, Sherry. You really didn't miss a big announcement or anything. It was just sort of talked about among some of my authors-present and past-on their LJs. Thanks for the offer of beta help. Fortunately, I don't have a great deal to do at the moment and what I have will be a welcome distraction. However, once we get into a routine with this 'beast' and know what life will be like for the next few months, I will surely call on you if I need to. You're always there to bail me out! ;-) We thank you for your thoughts, prayers, good wishes and friendship. I've told you this before, but I'll repeat it: Harry Potter fans are the greatest people on earth.
