Make Up Wake Up

I haven't worn makeup during the day for months, except for occasional dabs of cheap foundation under my eyes. But today, I ran out of regular clothes and had to pull out a fancy silk skirt, which prompted eyeshadowage. Now I'm thinking about getting more day makeup, like fancy foundation and blush, to give myself that Jane Austen peaches and cream ( Read more... )

I don't really like wearing makeup, but think I look much more polished when I am. it's funny how you can rapidly switch between zero to much, and back again.

yeah, there's the whole professionalism issue too. thankfully, i work for a nonprofit so it's not too competitive and high brow around here. i guess my ego gets stroked by people's reactions, but is it worth the extra prep time. that's a classic female problem, isn't it?

Heh, for my 18th birthday, my sister got me an expensive Christian Dior makeup bag full of expensive Christian Dior makeup, but I don't even know how to apply half the stuff! Except for maybe some lip gloss and eye shadow, I generally haaate makeup. :)

oo.... christian dior is *way* expensive... i don't think i've ever gotten any christian dior stuff... though this shu uemura foundation i'm thinking of getting is like $45.... sheesh... i remember this stylist using it on me though when i was helping out a fashion photographer friend with a shoot, and it somehow blended with my skin really well.

i have ok skin, but it gets all red and splotchy, and i look much better when i have foundation on the areas that turn red, my nose primarily. yeah, it's horrible. i so don't have the patience. it makes me wish i grew up french, like _mysterieuse_. i want to enjoy putting on makeup more.

ha ha. you're totally allowed to be high-maintenance. i just spent a fortune on friday buying shu uemura stuff. we'll see whether i can keep up makeup during the day. i kinda like it and i kinda don't.
