There is an elbows homeowners list for talking about specifics. Big tubs rock, just make sure the floor can hold it. You could install a handheld showerhead in addition to the primary one, and mount it at a kid-accessible height.
How would you adjust temperature on a motion-sensing faucet? How reliable are they? I find half of the ones I encounter in restaurants bothersome; frantic handwaving as one tries to find the magic spot.
Similarly, some motion-sensing lightswitches are great, others a pain; some net research is probably called for...
Yup - I'm on the elbows homeownser mailing list - just haven't gotten far enough along in thoughts to have specific questions really yet.
Once we actually move in at the beginning of June, I can take measurements and start making more serious detailed plans. That said, if there's any interest in browsing this kind of stuff, 3diff isn't, strangely enough, deeply fascinated by it.
For the motion-sensing faucet, I guess the temperature is preset, which would be an advantage, I guess. I do find them frequently annoying.
I like the motion-sensing lightswitch idea more - but research, as you say, is the key.
You're right on the code part. (Husband has taken home inspection courses, but never got licensed -- which is too bad, because he'd be a fabulous home inspector. So he tends to go on, at times, about code :)
I'd be afraid the child(ren) would consider the motion sensors as a toy. And I tend to agree with goldsquare that they'll then not know what to do in other places. But maybe that's just me being a luddite...
