toddler activities for the fall

I'm thinking about having Will take a class of some sort in the fall - maybe
gymnastics or something music related or...

Any suggestions/ideas on what & where?

I'm also thinking about a swimming class - that's important to learn as soon as reasonable.

Jason has really enjoyed the Kindermusik classes at Isis Maternity, but we're also considering trying Music Together, although they are apparently having to move due to Brigham's (who owned the building they were in) going out of business.

I've been doing the Child Development Program at Isis, but am thinking about either swimming or tumbling in the fall, possibly at the Waltham YMCA, which gets recommended to me frequently. Might be fun to sign up for something together, if we can make the scheduling work.

Yes, that would be fun. I was also looking at the Y, either Waltham or Woburn, depending on time & what's offered.

Swimming instruction at the Waltham Y is very good.

The tumbling classes led by Dottie are great - they used to be done by her at Waltham Parks & Rec, but there was some sort of kerfluffle and she's teaching at the Y. However, the 3-5 yr old classes at the Y can be hit-or-miss. I've had Z in some great classes there, and had a couple so bad I withdrew him.

Music Together in Belmont is great - we've been going for 2 years, and E and I will be going back in the fall.

My absolute faves:

Music Together (I go in Belmont) - http://www.musictogetherbbc.com
You can do a free trial class this summer. We've been going for 2 years, and E and Z both sing all the time. It's parent(nanny/grandparent)/child.

The Little Gym in Woburn (takes about 15 minutes to get there) - http://www.tlgwoburnma.com
Again, there's a free trial class. Classes are parent(nanny/grandparent)/child for kids under 3. Z has been going since he was 3, and I've been going with E since he was 18 months.

And the kids do swimming at the Waltham YMCA.

Hmm, how old is E now? What time for the little gym were you thinking in the fall?

It could be fun to coordinate.

It would be lots of fun!

E is 2.5 now, will be 3 in November. I'll keep him in the parent/child gymnastics until the winter/spring session begins in January.

For the summer, we're going Wednesdays at 10:15am. For the fall, we're currently signed up for Fridays at 9:15am.

Also, you might be interested in my parent/child co-op in Waltham, where Niki was an assistant this past year. It's 0-5, so both kids would be welcome! It starts up again in the fall, and I'll be going Thursdays 9-11:30am.

We really liked the gymnastics class run by Cambridge Recreation for 2 and 3 year olds. I'm not sure if it's offered in fall or only in spring - we found out about it in time for a January session or so, and they are not doing any classes for anything this summer due to construction at the high school. A little bit obscure, but this site seems to be where they'll post a fall schedule eventually: http://www.cambridgema.gov/DHSP2/recreation.cfm... )
