i hate parties with the lights off.

I would much rather attend a party where the lights are on, makes it seem more intimate. Is that stupid or opposite of what is normal? eh...i just feel so uncomfortable with loud music and low lighting. bah.

the idea behind the loud music and low lighting is that it's the opposite of how people's lives normally are, thereby creating a situation that is slightly surreal. in this surreality, people tend to find life more exciting, and it can also help some overcome anxiety.

i like the surreality in bars and clubs, but parties were usually better when i was sitting around chilling and talking to people without having to shout, and sipping on beer.
