Wow, that was amazingly different from anything you've done before, as far as I know. I love the way you kind of reverse-engineered their meeting. Fantastic!

Thank you! Reverse-engineered is exactly the right term. My request was for frottage, in a semi-public venue if possible. That pretty much demanded AU, because it just doesn't fit in with canon J&E. And yet I wanted them to be canon, or canon-ish. So I put together the where and then the when and finally the how.

My pleasure. I have no idea where they're going from here. But I feel that they are going somewhere--I just refused to let Ennis run away. They'll meet up again, and again and again. How they're going to cope with their wives and families is anybody's guess. But I definitely wanted to end on a hopeful note.

Hope it was close to what you wanted. Sex scenes are not my strong point.

What a different take on how they met; it took me a while just to get used to a "different" meeting. The rest of the story too - so different.

That was the trickiest part of this story--trying to show that they didn't meet on Brokeback Mountain as in the OS, without resorting to obvious outright statements.

"Different" seems to be the consensus opinion in these comments. Hmmm...

Well that's what I was hoping. Maybe meeting a little later, once Ennis has had a few years to get used to the fact that his homoerotic nature is not going to go away, will make a difference. I wonder too...

I have an idea or two rattling around in my head--starting with how to deal with the mess that I left in their pants!--but whether it will ever grow into an actual story, or make its way onto paper (or electronic equivalent) is anybody's guess.
