Long time no write! I've been almost sucked up by that crazy twitter thingie to write any post here.
I'll break the silence to introduce you the restyling of my home page over at slackware.it. As you can see I gave it some css love as the old one was a spooky plain html white on black site :D
Well, it *STILL* is white on black but, at least, there' ( Read more... )

Have you tested running a relay on the iPhone?

Sure, it works ok: http://yfrog.com/1ysqpnj (screenshot of torstatus page for the relay)

Fantastic! How long have you been running it? Do you find the battery drains too quickly? Does your relay run over your cell network or just over wifi?

That screenshot was taken during a quick test over wifi: I just waited for my relay to show up in the torstatus pages, shot him and then I took it down.
Today (8th March), I let it run for many hours over the cellular network alone and I've found some issues I'm going to share with the Tor community very soon.

There's a link for the repository installer on the project page: http://sid77.slackware.it/iphone/
Direct download link for latest version is http://sid77.slackware.it/iphone/pool/main/t/tor/tor_0.2.1.25-1_iphoneos-arm.deb but be aware it will be automatically removed upon updates

ok gracias, and what do you think about the new iphone OS 4.0 multi-tasking, will work better running with tor and a proxy at the same time ??(like polipo or privoxy),mmm and the overclocked iphone last generation ARM Cortex-8 to 833 mhz, its a bad idea to let run at the max speed?? and the best question,, its posible to install a linux distro version in the iphone installed in other Handheld gadget like "OpenPandora"(www.open-pandora.org) that have similar hardware, like the Arm cortex-8 processor/GPu, they use "Ångstrom-Linux" (www.angstrom-distribution.org) ?

The iphone already nicely runs both Tor and polipo at the same time (see my Tor Toggle package). In the past there were some work to port linux over the iphone but it looks a bit stale right now: http://linuxoniphone.blogspot.com/ (maybe not)

tor/polipo command line anonymous April 28 2010, 04:36:48 UTC
Hi,
I installed polipo,tor,libevent,mobiletor and sbsettings
on my iphone3gs/3.1.2 but i don't get tor running.
when typing 'tor' on the command line in terminal i can establish
a tor circuit but how do i run polipo? how do i run them simultaneously? i can enable tor in
sbsettings but don't see any change. so detailed instructions for a newbie would
be helpful. and thanks for the great work so far.

Are there any recommended configuration settings in torrc/polipo.conf for running tor/polipo on the iphone?

don't think so: I'm providing same settings as official Tor packages and they work quite well

The /var/mobile/Library/MobileTor/ folder contains both a sample torrc and polipo.conf files, copy them as "torrc" and "polipo.conf" and it will be ok. They're torproject.org standard settings for a tor client.
I've to admit they're a major source of confusion, I'll rename and mark them as config file as soon as I understand how to do it with the current build system.

Thanks for trying out Tor for the iPhone/iPod Touch!

Hi sid77,

Thanks for your great work!

I've installed it on my iPhone. But how do I configure my iPhone using the proxy??? Or how do I set the proxy?

regards,
Fung
