I don't really want to share but then I thought, what the hell my friends don't judge! So I'm going to post my story. it has no plot really because I just started. So i'm going to replay all of my video games this month so I can get inspired.
Under the cut, Beware a noob wrote this :P I need to write a crack fanfiction.
When I woke up I didn’t feel anything. Not because I was heartless or uncaring, it was because I had no idea. No idea where I was, who I was. A scientist found me. I looked at him curiously for awhile, noting that he was gasping at me. He was an older man, a man who had lived to be a great age. He wasn’t that tall, and his hair had been long gone. I noticed his well kept mustache, white with age, and how his blue eyes still burned with life. But after examining his face, I noticed his clothes. I felt like the fashion was not what I was supposed to see. He wore a lab coat; navy blue with red buttons, but underneath I saw a suit. But the way it was cut and sown, I can’t explain it. Sorry I don’t know fashion.
But after examining each other he decided to speak. He spoke slowly and hesitantly, as if talking any other way would frighten me.
“Hello. My name is Dr. Matthias Emory. Do you know who you are?”
The question was one I expected, I guess. But I had no real answer. I didn’t know how to respond so I kept staring at him. I guess that made him nervous because he cleared his throat and said, “Um, well it says here your name is Wakana Tadashii. Is that right?” Once Again I had no idea what to say. So I shrugged, it was kind of hard. He furrowed his eyebrows and let out a sigh. I guess he was getting a little annoyed. Or at least he was frustrated. “Can you tell me anything?”
I looked around, ignoring his question for a moment before I opened my mouth to speak. Nothing came out. I was horrified. I tried again and again to make a sound but my voice wouldn’t come out. The doctor gave a small laugh before saying “That’s alright. I should have known better than to make you speak. It says here you’ve been asleep for a long time.”
I was asleep for a long time? How long? “It says here for about two hundred years”. Two hundred years? How could I have been asleep that long? Wouldn’t I be dead? Or unable to move? But then I realized I had only been moving my head, and slowly at that. I tried to move my arms and legs but they would not move. I’m glad my bed, or whatever I was in, was set up in a wall. I could see the whole room by just moving my eyes. I worriedly looked at him, pleading for help with my eyes, and he said “Don’t worry, I will get help and get you out of there.”
Out of where? I wondered. It seems I wasn’t in a bed, but some sort of capsule? I looked at myself and noticed hundreds of wires and tubes surrounding me. Some is providing me with who knows what, and others doing work for the capsule itself. I also noticed I wasn’t really wearing anything. I had something to cover my most private parts but I could have had more. When the doctor returned he brought with him a woman and three men. I was nervous when they all started to examine me and the capsule. After tinkering it and reading something off a computer linked to my capsule they released me. I was surprised that after a few buttons I would just fall out like that. Thankfully one of the men was quick enough to catch me. I looked at him and he smiled nervously at me. I guess an almost naked girl would make someone a bit nervous. The woman decided to step in at this point.
She gently took me off the man’s hands and placed her lab coat over me. “It’s a bit windy” she said. “You’ll need this”. She gave me a kind smile. I was glad my face muscles were working. I gave her a smile and hoped it portrayed my gratitude for her. She lifted me up and they all started to talk about this and that. It’s kind of a blur now. I just held onto her has we stepped out into the light.
Chapter one
I’m in Dr. Emory’s Garden. It’s quite beautiful and has so many interesting plants. I love this place. It’s closer to nature than any other place I have been. I’ve noticed that I don’t really have an interest for the technology here in Dr. Emory’s home. I live with him now, in a huge empty house. I noticed that it was lined with old photos of family long gone. The time I’ve spent here with Dr. Emory I’ve learned a few things.
He’s a botanist, I found out. And it turns out he found me by complete accident. He was digging at a site in a place formerly called Japan. He was looking for any type of plants that could have survived what they call the Apocalypse. His equipment picked up a strange signal from underground and he and his crew decided to investigate. They discover me and learned that I was left there by my grandfather, Dr. Tadashii.
But Dr. Emory explained that the world had to start over two hundred years ago. He never really explained it, and I don’t blame him. He always looked sad. Of course I can always look at books or the internet but I don’t like to see anything sad or evil. But I wonder why I can’t remember anything about me. I remember random facts and subjects. I know about history and art, math and science. I’m glad too. I can talk with people about the variety of topics. It’s really confusing as to why I know all this but I like to watch the surprised faces of people around me. They always ask how I know so much and all I can do is shrug.
After I got out of that capsule I was taken to a hospital to recovery. The media had gotten wind of me and where determined to get my picture and name. I had guards at my door and I would hear people outside my window. Little by little I regained strength in my legs and arms. It took such a long time but it was well worth it. When I had just started to walk my curiosity got the best of me. I carefully walked to my window and peeped outside.
“There she is! That girl they found!” I could see so many people and they were pointing at me, taking my picture, and shouting millions of this. All of a sudden I was pulled back and the curtains were tightly closed. “Don’t ever do that again!” the nurse looked so worried as she said that. I asked “Why?” Unfortunately all she heard was “Naze?” That poor woman. She knew no Japanese which was the only language I could speak at the moment. She said to me “Please stay in bed. Don’t go to the window again. The people outside are crazy!” I nodded my head to show her I understood. She sighed and left me in my room. I never felt so lonely. The only person who would really spend time with me was Dr. Emory. He would talk to me, he knew I understood. He would talk about almost anything. During the time I was talking with him I practiced my English. He was fascinated that I caught on rather quickly.
After my recovery I was introduced to the world. I was very frightened. A large crowd was gathered and Dr. Emory told them that he and his team discovered me. Discovered me? I guess this is the only way to describe how they found me. But I ended up feeling like a thing and not a person. He explained what was left in that old lab and how that they found me. The room went crazy. Many were in disbelief about how anyone could leave a young girl in a capsule, while others were going crazy over the fact that my grandfather was Dr. Tadashii. Turns out he was a famous scientist who specialized in robotics and engineering. He dabbled in many other things too. But what made him well know was his advances in A.I. He created intelligent programs for computers and robots.
I like the robots and computer A.I. I’ve meet a few in the doctors home and on the computer he gave me. He said he would get me my own robot or my own A.I. program for my computer. I’ve declined but he said he was sure I would want one in the future. They seemed to like me for some reason. You know the robots and programs. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t so impressed or my demeanor around them. I treat them the same I do people and many humans do really treat them equally. I wanted to speak at the meeting I was at. I wanted to tell the world that I was nobody and the world can move on.
“Wakana!”
I guess I was musing for too long. Dr. Emory slowly made his way towards me. It was strange to see him use his cane. He didn’t use it the first time me met. I once asked him about this and he simply said, “One day you’ll know what it’s like to be old and what stress can do to you.” He walked until he was a few feet in front of me and said “Enjoying the flowers?”
The flowers were what I was visiting today. I wanted to look at all the colors and variety they had to offer me. I smiled and said to him “Yes I am doctor. I wanted to enjoy the flowers today.” He gave a heartily laugh and motioned me to follow him. “What’s wrong doctor?”
“Nothing is wrong my dear. I just wanted to take you somewhere new.”
“Somewhere new?”
“Yes. I want you to meet a few people and look at an organization.”
“Who and what are new?” This is interesting. Dr. Emory never takes me out to meet people or to discover new things. They always have to come here. I guess he sees me has a granddaughter. I learned from a house keeper that he once had a granddaughter that looked around my age. She sadly died very young and Dr. Emory was devastated. She was all he had after his wife and daughter died. She also told me that I am using her old room. I think I would have liked her. Her room was modest and comfortable. It had a full bed with white covers and blue sheets. The walls are a nice pale blue with a window facing the garden outside. Her closet was filled with cute clothes, or what the latest fashion deemed cute. She had every color but my favorite is blue. I wonder if the Doctor would let me change up the room. However I’m afraid he’ll get mad at the idea of someone changing his granddaughter’s room.
“Now Wakana,” he says “Just get a nice pair of shoes and meet me outside by the car.” With that command I raced to my room. I wish I decided not to go outside barefooted today. I quickly wiped my feet on my carpet to get rid of the dirt on them. I found a pair of blue socks and put on my shoes. I skipped down the stairs, despite the fact the doctor is always telling me not to. I almost hurt myself by tripping on the last step. No wonder he always scolds me when I do it.
I managed to collect myself after that fall and calmly walk outside. I can be mature about this. Just because I’m excited doesn’t mean I have to act like a child. I walked towards the car and Dr. Emory opens the door for me. I thank him and scoot inside. He sits next to me and tells the driver “We’re ready to go”.
For some reason my heart was pounding as I was driving down the road. I feel as if something will change my life forever. I don’t know how I know this. I can just feel it. I see all the houses and trees we pass by and wonder how long it will take us to get there. I noticed that we’re going somewhere in the city that was a few miles away. I use to wish we lived in the city until I realized that we couldn’t have the garden and peace we enjoy.
I noticed we passed everything and realized we were going to the last building on the other side of town. I was huge; it towered over all the other buildings and was shaped like a long cylinder. I found my heart racing even faster. “What is that place? It’s huge!!”
I heard Dr. Emory laugh and realized that I must have said that out loud. I blushed. “Now, now, don’t be embarrassed! This place is somewhere very important to many people” Oh! So he was finally going to tell me where we were going. “This place holds the most honorable men and women around. This is Miwatasu. This is a place that works hard to keep the world safe”
“How so? Its only one place. How can it protect the world?” He laughed. He seems to always laugh at me. It kind of irritates me. He must have noticed because he kindly said “I’m not making fun of you Wakana. It’s just that the whole world sees them as one thing. You weren’t here to see them help fix the world all those years ago. They continue to make sure the world is safe and sound. And there are more locations around the world, but this one with the main base.”
And he continued to tell me how much they helped the world until we reached the entrance.
Chapter Two
When we entered the receptionist looked at us curiously. Or at least when she looked at me. People were still not very use to me yet. I blame Dr. Emory. If he took me out more than maybe people would see me as some normal girl and not an enigma. Dr. Emory talked to her briefly. Asking her to tell a man named Nomiki that we had arrived. I wondered what kind of man he was, Dr. Emory deemed him worthy of meeting me. Or was it the other way around? I was so lost in my thoughts on why I was meeting this man that I was startled when Dr. Emory took hold of my arm to lead me inside more. He apologized for scaring me but I shuttered my “don’t worry about it” quickly. How embarrassing. I kind of shouted when he grabbed me so everyone was looking at us and whispering. So with a red face I walked down the hall and up an elevator with the doctor.
The building was very interesting. It was a cylinder within a cylinder. The building was very wide and very tall. The out layer of the building seemed to contain all the offices and rooms of lower ranked individuals. The inner cylinder was more private. The outside cylinder had windows all around. So every room and office had a window for a wall. The inner one however didn’t have windows. It was kind of daunting. We were going to a room in the inner cylinder and I was worried about how it would look and feel. Hopefully it was not intimidating.
I turned to him when we reached the elevator and he smiled at me. I could tell he was ready or at least waiting for my questions. “So, who is this Nomiki Doctor?”
“He’s my adopt son. Sort of.” I looked at him. I never knew he had someone he considered family. I hope he just doesn’t end it at that. Come on doctor don’t leave me in the dark!
“Has I said before, this is Miwatasu. Nomiki is the commander here. He leads the units and plans out missions. Without him this place would fall apart. Miwatasu’s mission is to make sure the population is safe from Kichigai. Kichigai are the people who are still infected by a mysterious virus. During the apocalypse, some humans were affected by an infection in a unique way. They’re bodies remained the same but they all had the same mind set. They all chanted strange things. “Kill the lesser beings” and “Obey or die”. It affected so many people, and it affected every race, age, and gender. At first it was isolated in a few areas; however it soon affected much of the world population. No one really knows who they were referring too. There were so many questions left unanswered. Who were we lesser too and who do we obey? After this initial infection of craziness, the government had to decide something. Because there was no sign of a cure, or of it going away, the government decided to declare you legally dead if you become infected.”
Wakana gasped. “I know. It sounds drastic. But it was necessary. This allowed people to stop the infected or Kichigai. Many were against it. These people were still alive and that there must have been a way to save them. Unfortunately we never managed a way to cure these people and we began to kill them one by one. There are still a few these days. Many are wondering areas that have been abandoned. We found you in Japan yes?”
Wakana nodded. “Japan was an area that was heavily hit with the infection. It is also where it started. After clearing it with our government, we were given permission and guards to research the area. I was looking into plants. Others were looking into structural remains or cultural artifacts. I found you with my scanner. I was using it around a nicely planted area. I was using it to make sure there wasn’t anything dangerous buried there. That’s when we picked you up. Every group that was in the area came to investigate you. When we found the capsule we didn’t really know what to do. Should we open it or leave it alone? What if this girl has the infection and wants to kill us? But the message left for us let us know you were ok. You were sealed away to protect you.”
When he finished with that last bit of the story we had reached the 87th floor of the building. It was the top floor of the building and I assumed that the importance of each person only went up as we moved along. “We’ll talk more about this later.” Dr. Emory started to walk towards a door. It was the only door on this floor as a matter of fact. I felt it was a waste of a floor. Couldn’t there be more offices? One person didn’t need a whole floor. The hallway was only a few feet and Dr. Emory simply opened the door. I was surprised. He always told me it was rude not to knock before entering a room. And what if we interrupted something important? But I guess it wasn’t a big deal. Dr. Emory and Nomiki warmly greeted each other and that’s when I remembered that he was waiting for us. After the initial hellos they both turned to me. Nomiki looked me over. I guess trying to judge me based off my appearance. I gave him the once over too. He was a very tall man. He wore a uniform that was decorated with metals and patches. It was a grey/green color and it had red bands around the ends of his sleeves. I could tell he was a proud man, and that he was sharp as a knife. His eyes are a strange lavender color. I’ve never seen anyone with those eyes. But of course I’ve only seen a handful of people.
“Hello Wakana, I am Nomiki. Commander of Miwatasu base and I am pleased to meet you.” He extended his arm and I knew that meant we had to shake hands. I timidly reached out to him. His grip was firm, but gentle. I think he may have been struggling a bit too. My hand is extremely tiny compared to his. I smiled nervously up to him and said “Nice to meet you too.”
“So I guess you’re wondering why you’re here right? Well we wanted to talk to you about something important. You see, you’ve been out for a few months but you haven’t been allowed to do much have you?” I shook my head. I’ve been stuck in my room or the doctor’s garden. Not that those places were bad, but a girl needs a bit more. Right? “So we are deciding on how to change that. But of course we have to take many things into consideration. Like how old you are, how the public as reacted to you, and how you interact with the world. But we’ve found a place where you can be safe and learn more about the world.” I kind of have a feeling I know where this is going. “And where is that Commander Nomiki?”
“Here”.
Has we were going down the elevator, all three of us, I was wondering about their offer. Should I stay at the base for school? I would learn about the solders and scientist they need. Anyone can be anything, but I’m sure I would pick scientist. I don’t think I can kill anything. I didn’t notice that they pressed a button that wasn’t ground level.
“We have one person to meet.” Commander Nomiki said. “This person is kind of like you Wakana. We found him but he wasn’t as gentle as you were.” We entered what looked like a lab to me. I could see men and women hunched over microscopes and typing away at computers. We reached a room that was locked and guarded. Commander Nomiki nodded to the two standing at the door. They allowed us to enter but they looked nervously at the doctor and me. I guess an old man and a young girl really shouldn’t enter this room. But I’m curious. Who is inside this room and why is he dangerous?
As we entered the boy looked at us. He seemed to be as young as me. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He wore a red shirt with a simple pair of dark jeans. He was sitting on the floor in the center of the room. He was waiting for what was coming to him I guess. He looked us over and then stopped at me. We looked straight into each other’s eyes.
