Yes, the music has a fantastic beat, yes, you're pumped, yes, it's your favorite song of the moment, but no, running 6 miles an hour and trying to get your groove on are not compatible. I've tried, and it failed spectacularly when a little hip action knocked the emergency stop button off its perch and brought the ( Read more... )

Mmm, I do miss cake. Actually I ate some last week, so I haven't missed it for too long...

Life is equal parts good and bad, but I'm looking forward to Christmas and getting a break. Being a grown-up is hard! Hope your pitch in NY went well!

Ohmigoodness, I had my first experience of witnessing #2 at the gym a couple of weeks ago. It was sort of entertaining in a "haha I'm running next to a vapid blonde moron" kinda way for a couple of moments, and then it just got annoying.

I totally agree with you on #4 (the other ones too, but since I work with kids, #4 is an issue of mine). If I have kids one day, they will either have boy names or girl names. Not in between names. And their names will not be spelled in any sort of original way just so that they're different from everyone else. That's just cruel to teachers! It's nice to come up with different and creative names, sure. Anne-Katherine isn't exacly common so who am I to talk. But it's not like my parents spelled my name in some crazy creative way that the already complicated to spell name became impossible to spell. What's the next step? Silent letters at the beginning of names? "How do you spell your name?" "Mchann- Katryn" "The Mch are silent"
*rage*
