Got a new video card. GeForce 6600 GT. All 6600s are PCI express based, so the AGP cards (like the one I got) have a translation chip to go to AGP. After installing it, I was putting the case cover back on rather carelessly (with the comp on), and I shorted something... Video went out on the comp and I smelled burning... Isn't it funny how sometimes you can just leave iit over night and then...

BTW if you get a new MB how do you get your Windows install converted to the other Board?

What do you mean converted over? You mean software/driver wise, or get windows activation to accept it?

If you mean software/driver, then usually just moving the hard drive over to the new motherboard will make it work (it *might* ask for the xp cd the first time you boot) and it'll spend a while detecting new hardware... Usually not the ideal situation as the installation gets more bloated than usual, but it should work...

As far as activation goes, I'm not sure what M$ policy is... Either way you'd probably have to call them when it asks to activate again (which it will do if you're using a "legitimate" copy).

thanks... I'm thinking about upgrading one day and its always bothered me...

Would i have to reinstall to make everything work with out bloading out my install... I'll look it up later... ^-^

Yay, I paid my car off recently too~ Now I have my first student loan <3 There will be many more to come...

Hooray for paid off cars. I don't have any more loans or anything now, so I just get to pay for usual bills and save up.

Hey i just paid for another car too! horray for not having to pay interest! Plus i save money by not being required to have full coverage.

lol, that's exactly why I paid off my car. I didn't mind the interest so much, but that darn insurance was freakin expencive! And it went waaaaaaaaaay down once i didn't have full coverage anymore~ <3

of course its a double edged sword. I saved about $1000 by going minimum coverage, however, when i had my accident i got nothing from the insurance company, a loss of about $1000.
