No Breathing and No Decongestants Make Megan Something Something...

Dec 20, 2010 09:32

I had been warned that being pregnant *and* sick is a miserable experience, but I had NO FRICKING IDEA how bad it actually was...until 5 days ago. Now I'm on Day 5 of not breathing through my nose and I'm ready to murder someone.

Anyone want to send sacrificial jerps my way? Stabbing helps keep me from noticing that I can't breathe!

I'll be back on the East Coast tomorrow. I am fluffy enough that I can be punched as a pillow and probably not feel it if needed ;)

One of these days, your ass needs to call us when you're out here. So we can get together and stuff! :P

Is there anything you can take?

I can take Tylenol, Mucinex, Chlor-Trimeton, Benadryl, Cold-Eez, but that's about it besides tea and soup. Right now I'm trying the Chlor-Trimeton/Mucinex combo which seems to help everything BUT my stuffy nose. The problem is that I can't take pseudo-ephedrine or phenylephrine because it screws up blood flow to the placenta, so the two best hopes of un-stuffing my nose are off limits.

I know I spelled a lot of those drugs wrong. I hope I made sense though! :P

Oh you poor thing!

I wish I could send you some homemade chicken soup!

Yeah, all those are going to do is keep you from choking on your own excessive mucus production. Any decongestants are probably not going to be recommended for the abovementioned reason. I would suggest a breathe-right strip and spicy foods, lol.

You can do Vicks vaporub. Doesn't transfer.

**hugs** I understand your pain. See about those vicks shower things that you drop in the shower when you are showering to help clear up your sinuses. If regular vapor rub is ok, that may be too.

This is what you want...and Alan has an article on cold remedies that work so bug him too (most of them are non-drug usage so they would be perfect for you).
