I spent a week in Spain near the Monfrague National Park in Spain from June 1st through 6th. The program essentially brings in it’s customers (Spanish people wishing to learn to speak English better and more fluently) and it’s volunteers (Anglos who are seeking a cheap vacation and a chance to meet real Spaniards and experience the “real” Spain) ( Read more... )

That's a brilliant idea. I've been skimming the Vaunghtown website. It's really cool that you participated; you can enjoy a vacation and also feel like you did a good deed helping people who wish to improve their English. I haven't gotten to costs yet - did you get to stay at the hotel for free? Did they pay your way to travel there from Madrid?

Anyway, I think it's so amazing and wonderful that you are taking such advantage of being overseas. I'm jealous and happy for you all at once. :)

Yah, not sure I get that comment. We even used the phrase "Non-Anglos" to refer to the Spaniards a couple of times, and they didn't seem to take offense. Maybe there is another word Jen is thinking of?
