After two and a half years of slogging out payments to the tune of $20 000, as of today I am credit card debt free.

Congratulations.. I will be in debt free land shortly.
Following that, will most likely never go back into debt, that
includes never having a mortgage.. (Mortgage means debt till death.. or directly Death Pledge..)
