Yeah, it's true--Akin is a complete and completely ignorant asshole.  That said, I want to discuss and perhaps defend (again) the point of view that says that life begins at conception, that abortion is murder, and that given that, no matter how a child is conceived--even by rape--that human life is sacred and cannot be terminated.

I think that I would feel resentful of any child conceived through rape: in that case, not only did a man force himself and a whole host of trauma upon me, but also an unwanted pregnancy. I think it would feel unclean and an even greater invasion than the act of rape itself. I'm basing that thought both off what I've heard about how rape victims feel and off a comparison of my personal experiences with abuse by authority.
