On Monday April 10, 2006 the last Political Discussion Group meeting will be held. We're going to Casey's Restaurant, be there or be square. I'll be sad to see it go, having been its perpetual leader now for two years. Oh Steven, that's what happens when you wear a chastity belt with spikes. On a serious note, I will miss PDG too, it was my outside connection to the world seeing as how I never really have time to listen to the news. But at least I will have your crazy entries on livejournal...
And when you shoot Gilles Duceppe behind the chemical shed, I wanna be there.

Being an immigrant, I am forced to speak up. You have been talking about aid to newcommers and how it's a bit much, as a part of an immigrant family I'm disappointed to say there has been no aid. It's not like we're struggling, but we've tried several times to check out our options and have been met with replies of not being eligible. Then who exactly is this aid for and how many does it actually benefit? It did absolutely nothing for my family. One thing I am peeved about is that Canadian society seems to be in shortage of everything from teachers to doctors (not to mention political leaders) yet they do not allow immigrant professionals to begin working. Instead they are bogged down with examinations and the requirement of Canadian experience, they say there are 800 foreign doctors that cannot practice because of the numerous criteria they have to fulfil which takes ages to complete. I know my father had a tough time getting a job to support himself in the beginning because that's what it all came down to, Canadian experience ( ... )
