Yeah, by and large it's kinda pointless, but I can't help but appreciate a service that puts me back in contact with so many people I used to know.

An old friend from high school just added me there, and when I checked out his profile, I discovered that his band landed a song on the Spiderman 3 soundtrack. I'd always wondered whether he and a few ( Read more... )

Facebook rant!

I can't really explain my feelings towards facebook...except that I like to stay in touch with people, but I don't like to know about their lives if I can't call them. And a facebook wall post is a poor way to keep up with someone.

....I think I'm going to turn off viewing other's status updates now :)

Livejournal, is an excellent way to keep up someone.

Yeah, I know what you mean! I'm not entirely gung-ho about the thing either, but it is what it is, and I'm willing to use it for casual contact. I'd never consider it adequate for cultivating close relationships, though. Nor LiveJournal, actually, nor e-mail, nor even instant messaging. It's more meaningful to relate in person, and I focus most of my energy on that. But those all have their uses and I'm glad to have them available, because otherwise I'd lose contact with too many friends I've been separated from by time and circumstance, and never have a chance to visit. In cases like that, I'll take what I can get. :)
