I got into sewing after i was frustrated with all the tapering god awful men's clothing i had to wear. This was at it's height my senior year of high school, and a year after that. I actually wore a lot of these clothes for years, even though i'm a terrible at sewing. I think i did it partly to express my inconcern with what's feminine and masculine.

But it seems lately i've just found clothes that have fit me well enough, partly because it seems some of them are actually women's clothing (coats). Also, however, i made some really crappy mistakes on clothes, and found out it can be very difficult to "edit" clothes if you don't have any idea what you're doing.

Men are concerned with their looks for sure, but when the idea of learning how to sew comes in, we don't want to put that kind of work into it. If we're going to work, it'll be more manly than that. Build a birdhouse or shed, or something...

I'm going to go weld some steel together now.

so, it's the work factor? bird houses somehow seem a lot less practical than clothing. And I embrace your ability to brave the womens clothing- it looks good on you anyways (and no one really cares if it's girl clothes anyways, I'm sure you're aware)

"Yoo-hoo! Girls! Who want's to learn how to make old clothes into super cute clothes!?"
I kind of expected at least a couple girls to reply to my plea for guys.
That's why sexism, darling, because sometimes it works.
If you can get your fashionable booty out here at the appropriate time (which will be annonced soon) you can learn to sew too! Promise!
