Mmm, gelato. Sounds like you made good decisions, there!
Boo that the Forum was pay-only. It was fascinating, but without our tour guide, it would've been hard to understand it's importance. Impossible, practically.
That garden you found sounds lovely! I didn't particularly like Rome when i was there because it was just too much city for me. No green spaces anywhere other than behind private walls. Maybe that was why i liked the Forum, too: green space.

I tend to prefer green spaces as well, but I do like the fact that there's always something beautiful to look at in Rome. And the bustle doesn't bug me as much as, say, New York, where I tend to feel a little overwhelmed and grimy after a while.
