Jessica Jones

I don't think I binge-watched, exactly, but I just now finished up watching Jessica Jones over the weekend. My quick and dirty review - wrenching, compelling, not perfect by any means, but really, really good. Sometimes the tone got a little lost, and there were little eddys in the execution where you could see why the show was doing something but ( Read more... )

I binged JJ as well. I really liked it for the performances. Krysten Ritter really can turn on a dime. I love how she can pretend to be bubbly on the phone and then return to dour. A lot of great talent. So good, that such a great performance from Tennant doesn't overshadow them. Rachael Taylor was a pleasant surprise. I really didn't know if she'd make it past the 2nd episode. I really liked the episode with their back-story. They can accomplish anything together. One can beat you up -- the other can get you a table at an expensive restaurant ( ... )

It's true, the balance between ten episodes and very little "average day at work" stuff to tuck into the storyline means things were really focused on this one specific, very bleak one. And Jessica is definitely very Korra-like, with the impulse to hit first and ask questions later, the frustration that other people aren't just doing what she tells them to do.

Although to be honest, her plan to get Kilgrave confessing on camera was really, really goofy.

The friendship between Jess and Trish was pretty much my favorite thing. Also Malcom, overnight detox notwithstanding! I had some issues with the remaining twin and her whipping up the survivors group to go attack Jessica...very little of that made sense to me.

All valid complaints. "Hey! Let's potentially electrocute people to get a video confession."

House-buying is stressful, but really worth it. *hugs*

The big problem is that we can't afford much, so we're looking at a lot of houses that were last renovated in 1952 and have ovens and toilets and air conditioners crammed into strange places!
