I was just wondering if Widget has one teacher for all her classes or if she swaps around during the day. At my school, kindergarten, first, and second have the same teacher all day long except for PE, music, library, and computer lab. In third grade they go to one teacher for a couple of subjects then on to another.

She pretty much has one teacher - plus a classroom assistant. They have someone come in for Spanish once a week as well. Montessori is unusual in that the classrooms a mixed age, and unless a teacher leaves, the kids generally have one teacher for three years instead of just one year. This year marks H moving from the Lower El (grades 1-3) to the Upper El (grades 4-6) and getting a new teacher. Not really NEW, since until they moved into their new space last November, the lower and upper el classes shared the same space, but the work will be different and more challenging. I think it's good for her. She, predictably, thinks it sounds like a lot more work.
