Okay, so I'm thinking about volunteering starting in September for 7 months in Sudan teaching English.

Am I insane?

I agree you are nuts and I am soooooo jealous. Go for it. Life is full of adventures and that sounds like an amazing one. If you go you better keep in touch!!!

Not only is there no pay, I'd have to pay my own airfare and travel insurance (for the first three monthes). And the reason I'm looking at this one is because, with the exception of the Peace Corps (which I have no interest in due to the fact that it's way too muhc time and responsibility and working with the American government) it's the only program I can find that didn't make me pay thousands of dollars to volunteer. After an hour of websearch for international volunteer opportunities, and especially in Dufar, prompted by an article about what's going on over there in the New York times, I found nothing for volunteering with the refugees in Sudan, and everyone else was like, please volunteer to help take care of orphans in Nepal, for just $1,000 a week ( ... )
