because it reinforces the idea that every marriage has to end. Even in real life there are some happy endings.

But not for people who have it pretty good but don't appreciate his/her spouse's efforts because they fall short of the ideal (In Birth and Death); who try to punish his/her mate into being something that he/she is not (Psychodrama, In Birth and Death) and only "reward" his/her mate with loving behavior only when he/she feels his/her needs are being met (Machismo, The Fisher King); who takes his/her frustrations out on his/her spouse and issue ultimatums (In Birth and Death); and who engange in passive-aggressive emotional blackmail (Machismo, Psychodrama, In Birth and Death).

If anything good comes of this, I hope some man or woman looks at Haley, hates what she does, realizes he/she is treating his/her spouse the same way -- and stops. Or reads "Love and Respect" and stops. Either will do me fine

I agree with everything you've said. But I'm not sure that I agree that Haley is all that bad. She's bad, indeed, but she's not the only bad guy in that relationship, in my opinion.

I'm not saying she's the bad guy. I'm saying she drives me absolutely bat-shit crazy (kinda like my buddy Jeanie when she gets in that "mode"). :D
