I find a lot of existentialist philosophy lends itself well to Utena.

It really does. Pretty much replace 'coffin' with 'immanence' and 'revolution' with 'transcendence' and the paper almost writes itself. But not quite, sadly, or I'd have it way too easy.

Indeed I have! And I'm actually using the episode transcripts hosted on the site as my primary source for Utena quotes, as opposed to the American DVD translations.
