I... love everything about this post. (I also love that you included Castle in the Sky, which I think is far too overlooked. It made me cry like a bitch when I rewatched it recently, that scene when the one robot is laying flowers on the graves.) I'm only missing Princess Mononoke, but... they're all so brilliant, paring them down to just five can't have been easy! Bravo.
Also (sorry for the edit): Miyazaki the man is also amazing, so I was really pleased by the inclusion of his quotes. I was fortunate enough to see him at Comic-Con last year, which was kind of a dream come true. His answer to "Why do you write so many great female protagonists?" was one of the simplest yet best things I've ever heard: "Because women are beautiful and strong."
Yes, Castle in the sky is quite awesome. And I remember that scene and it was both gorgeous and sad :). I know Princess Mononoke was just never a favourite of mine, however I watched it when I was much younger so it is no doubt worth a re-watch to try and get it again. I know, it is sad how many of his works are overlooked just because they are more different, say Porco Rosso is another that really impressed me and I didn't think it would but I guess it's true you cannot judge until you watch.
I am so beyond jealous of you! To see him would be amazing, his brain and his imagination seem so wonderful I would think it would be an honor to hear his thoughts.
Beautiful. I didn't enjoy Howl's Moving Castle much, but that main picture you have for it is just stunning. Have you seen Ponyo? <3 I think my faves are Totoro, Spirited Away and Ponyo.
No, I haven't seen Ponyo. Sadly I missed it at the cinema and wanted to wait to a good quality version came out before I watched it.
Yeah, Howl's wasn't my favourite (obviously lol) however I think its the colours and the scenery that makes me love it, like the pictures show it's just so gorgeous.
omg this picspam is awesome! I'm a big fan of Miyazaki and i loved every single movie! I envy you because, if i have to choose 5 Miyakazi movies, i cannot decide!:D And obviously i love you choices! Good job!♥
I really love this picspam. Great movie choices, and the images you picked and the way you put them together are all beautiful. Totoro would be my personal number 1, but they're all amazing! Thanks you for sharing :)
