The voice wafted up from the alleyway below, from the opposite corner where he was perched. The old tenement building was abandoned, and made good shelter during the days when Connor could actually sleep. Some of the street people he had saved moved in, wanting to be closer to their 'protector'. His skin crawled an inch or two whenever they looked at him as if he was the second coming.
He crossed the rooftop in easy strides, standing on the ledge and looking over the action. There was a small swarm surrounding the guy. The flames were a deterrent, but not a permanent one. As evidenced by the one who just kept coming. The temperature rose another notch before the creature melted away in ashes.
"Enough already!"A stake clutched in his grasp, Connor stepped off the roof like someone would step down the stairs. The momentum of his drop landed him in a crouch, the body of one of the vamps falling underneath his feet. He staked him before straightening. Two birds, one stone. Why waste
( ... )
I blinked as I watche the guy took care of the vamps without much of an issue. Must be a demon hunter, or something. I know there's a few walking around L.A., but I was never sure how many.
"Didn't anyone tell you LA isn't exactly vacation material right now?"
"I used to live here, this isn't a vacation." I explained with a small shrug. "Came back to see old friends, ended up with Close Encounters of the Fangy Kind."
I looked around, a little bit paranoid that something else was going to come at me, and then when nothing came, looked back to the guy who'd just saved me. No, scratch that, kid. I'm fairly sure this is a kid.
"Any idea what happened to get this place crawling with them more than usual?" I couldn't help but be curious, this wasn't the first time since I got here I've been ambushed by something. "I really need to keep better connections."

He snorted softly, pocketing his stake in the dirty, torn jeans he wore. Connor had found them, discarded in someone's shopping bag. Well, no one's bag really, since the pack of vampire had picked them off before he got there. The jeans were brand new, but already riddled with holes. "Yeah. You do."
His gaze kept moving, checking each shadow as if something was going to materialize and attack them. With the way things were going around here, it could happen. "My advice? Wherever you just came from, go back."
Connor started out of the alleyway, and then stopped, realizing his footsteps were the only ones he was hearing. He half turned, staring at the guy he just rescued. "Are you coming? Or would you rather stay in the alley and have me check back in a half hour or so for your corpse?" No sense in sugarcoating things.

Hey, I'd last a little longer than a half an hour... Jeez, kid reminds me of a stone faced and slightly scary Carly. "Yeah I'm coming." I started following him out, thinking about how I was going to get back to the hotel I was staying in.
"Sam by the way. Sam Howell." I nodded to him. "And for what it's worth... thanks." Although I sorta doubt it's worth a whole lot.
