Why does work suck?

I work retail and it's...okay, I guess, but I wish I'd got more money - you work a lot harder than they pay you.

hey sigma,
i wouldn't go into retail this time of year; i did, and it's another miserable job, and you'll not only have a manager that will be on your back but customers want the world! i'd keep the job til the new year, but in the mean time look for other position and maybe talk to your supervisor...i talked to mine after 6 months bc i felt the same way, like i was someone's bitch, but after we talk things got a lot better..hope this helps !

I will be here to listen read when you decide to talk about it. :)

Also, when is good for you to come with me to do the Chile thing? I mean, do you want to email something to me and I'll send it or come with me to the post office or what?

(And they're the first job I straight up quit because I didn't like it there, as opposed to other reasons ( ... )

I'm going to echo everyone else and say don't work retail -- I worked at the local b&n cafe for two months before I got my current job, and I'm so glad it's over. the pay sucks for all the work you do (especially during this time of year), it can be very very *very* stressful, and there's just something about how heavily you're supervised and the way you're treated that sucks. I don't want to call it a lack of dignity, but it's the closest thing I can think of right now. also, at least at the cafe where I worked, no tip jar, so very few tips. and also: cauterizing masectomies. yeah ( ... )
