I don't think it's amnesia per-say, I think they are alluding to the almost-death causing him to have a change in the way he approaches life?

I don't know, considering all the past spoilers the simplest trying-to-be-OMG moment is usually what they go with. (Is Elizabeth Chuck's mom? No-but-actually-Yes. Does Chuck pimp Blair out? Yes.) I guess it wouldn't seem as bad if there a psychological slant to it, but "new identity" and "mystery" are what throw me.
