Fandom. You know, it's been so long since I really got into a new fandom that I'd forgotten how terrifying it is. Bleach is awesome, it really is, especially because - as long as you stay away from the Ichigo/Orihime = canon | Rukia/Ichigo = canon debate - there seems to be a very relaxed atmosphere when it comes to who you ship. I have yet to ( Read more... )

Ah Eiji-san's blog my friend ran through babelfish (which for once gave a reasonable answer:

title: beard
i just shaved the top bit
before going home, some info gathering on bleach
met up with the friends i haven't seen in a while
it'll be a little slow starting tomorrow

Tacchan has also mentioned bleach in his last entry (and I am working on a translation >>)

Also for meme 1~ Byakuya =DDD

=D I save it just for you~

Thank you indeed babelfish (for once) I ran it through google which got stuck on one of the kanji and so promptly gave up (it's not very sexy Sexy mind you it's better than the moustache Wasshi had...thank goodness he's shaved that off already >>)

Yeah i have one Tacchan translation i need to put up...and then he went and posted twice in as many days >> (i swear he knows someone has started trying to translate his blog, i swear...) So i'm working on those...

Yay for ByaRen~~ (do you have AIM or MSN? I have a inprogress ByaRen rp i could send you, plus you're very awesome~)

I am one of the ByaIchi people...not that I could explain to you why I like it I think for me the dynamic is kinda similar to ByaRen drawing on the fact both Renji and Ichigo are hot-headed, brash and would bring about GOOD changes in Byakuya but yeah, i don't really have any other reason (hot and porny made me laugh xDDDD)

Oooo, the infamous fic! Which I'm going to read, yaay!

For meme #1: Kenpachi!

silawen November 9 2009, 19:22:48 UTC

Infamous? XD Hardly. Crazy is more like it. Also, there's no Zaraki yet in this chapter, I'm afraid.

+ OTP for them.

Kenpachi/Unohana. The very first pairing I could see Kenpachi in. She'd keep him in line for sure. Also, the gentle healer and the brutal fighting machine together is so awesome. Opposites and metaphors, baby!

+ Runner-up pairing.

Kenpachi/Byakuya. *points at comment to blue_eyesgirl's answer* Those two are hilarious!

+ Honorable mention(s).

Kenpachi/GrownUp!Yachiru. Kenpachi/Yumichika.

+ Crack pairing(s).

Kenpachi/Nanao, hah. Also, Kenpachi/Ukitake and Kenpachi/Soifon. (He's so fun to put with random people. : P)

+ Ship everyone else seems to like, but I don't.

Eeeeeh. I don't think there's one that's popular that I don't like. Is there a popular pairing that I haven't mentioned yet? Oh! Kenpachi/Ichigo! Basically the same thing here as with Ichigo/Byakuya. I just don't like to read Ichigo fic, for some reason, and I prefer this to be an "I'll beat you" and "Please stop chasing me" relationship.

*Gives you a random thumbs up*

Although I'm not so sure about Unohana's 'gentleness' ♥

My inner rabid fangirl has tricked me to believe that Bleach is about Kenpachi/Byakuya. And I don't want to argue with it! I have never thought of Kenpachi/Yumi before, but I am now!

No, Unohana certainly isn't gentle - she's fierce and could probably kick Zaraki's ass - but she's gentle when she's being a healer. Argh, you know what I mean. XD

You mean Kenpachi and Byakuya - and Mayuri's snark - aren't the main focus of Bleach? Ichigo who?

Every fandom has them and you usually don't find out about them until you break one. Hence me asking in advance. *scared* XD

Hmm, yes, I agree about the concrit. I always love getting some. I mean, I have my moment of 'you stupid...' towards myself, but after that I get such a rush at having found another thing I can improve on that it doesn't matter to me. Non-native speakers, though, is another thing I'm uncomfortable about. Because I'm not a native I sometimes worry that people might disregard my advice. Heck, I even wonder if I should be giving advice, seeing as it's a foreign language to me. Meh. *sigh ( ... )

Actually, fluent nonnative speakers have a better grasp of prescriptive grammar than native speakers do ( ... )

Oh, I do know that. I'm an ESL English teacher, so we had this whole course on 'English as a second language'. However, that doesn't mean I'm confident in my own abilities, nor that people actually realize this. I can't count the times someone has implied that I shouldn't comment because as a non-native I don't know what I'm talking about. (Mind you, this was once coming from someone who insisted that the possessive of 'it' was 'it's' and wouldn't believe me when I tried to convince her otherwise.)

I suppose it's a lack of confidence on my part. : P Oh, and 'I should have went' hurts my eyes, I'm sorry to say. Then again, that particular rule has been drilled into me and still fills me with horror. Bad memories. *snicker*

Yeah, I've heard that some countries - the US, for example - don't always teach grammar anymore. It's dumbfounding to me. O_O

Well, if you ever do decide to write Akon/Byakuya, then please let me know. It would, no doubt, be veeery interesting. Hee.

Hmm, for the meme? Ukitake.

Reply

silawen November 9 2009, 22:47:46 UTC

+ OTP for them.

Ukitake/Shunsui. Yes, I'm the unoriginal sort. XD

+ Runner-up pairing.

Ukitake/Unohana.

+ Honorable mention(s).

Ukitake/Byakuya. Ukitake/Nanao. (Nanao, you're fast becoming my fandom bycicle, girl!)

+ Crack pairing(s).

Ukitake/Zaraki. *giggle*

+ Ship everyone else seems to like, but I don't.

Ukitake/Rukia and Ukitake/Kaien. Haven't seen enjoyable fic yet, I suppose.

I like Kaien/Ukitake, if written right... But I haven't found it written right.

+ Honorable mention(s). Ukitake/Nanao.

I actually wrote Ukitake/Nanao. T_T

here

I've always preferred constructive criticism. I try to give it out as much as possible too, because I think with writing you have to have a bit of a thick skin.

For the first meme ... um, Matsumoto?

*giggles at the fic* I always thought, that of all the other characters, that Nanao would be able to stand up to Zaraki... *laughs*

Hmmm...

I general, I've found in the Bleach fandom that concrit's best reserved for private messages, not directly in comments on the piece. It's just kind of how most people seem to work, just so you know. ideas, thoughts, and praise is for public comments; but actual criticism seems reserved for just private mesasges and they're not always well received.

I give crit only when asked.

Oh yes. She's the right kind of strict for someone like Zaraki, and she could kidou his face off if she wanted. Besides, if she can deal with Shunsui, she can deal with the not quite as intelligent one too. *grin*

Really? Aw, damn. I'm really not like that. I'm the type to prefer just being honest. It's part of the fanfiction experience for me. I wouldn't know what I know about English today if it hadn't been for some people helping me. Also, PMing someone is really such a bother. *is lazy* XD

Thanks for the heads up, though! I suppose I'll just stick to hinting and pointing out the occasional typo. *chuckles*
