my mind is orderly and clean

I feel as though my head is going to explode.  Boom! There she blows.  It seems recently that my mind is always buzzing.  There are so many thoughts I am very aware are floating around, sometimes peeking around the corner of my brain tissue and occasionally giving the temple above my right eye a nice hard poke.  There are of course the usual ( Read more... )

I wouldn't say our school is very political actually- I mean yes there were kids that did the day of silence but the observation of the post was just me. My post was really just referring to most schools in general.

i guess that's fair enough, but at shadow, most people don't even know when earth day is, much less observe a day to portray the silent suffering of homosexuals.

your condoleeza user icon should say "puh-lease, girrrl!" i would laugh heartily.

also, if we'll recall nat quals, "there should be no hyphenated americans, african-americans, asian-americans... homosexual-americans." wtf? that still amuses me. some people are du-umb.

Call me crazy, but the job of the teacher is to teach the subject he, she or it has been hired to teach.

Whats that... educational decree #27?

This way, Hutch can't tell us that all conservatives are wrong... Damn you Dunesberry! DAMN YOU!

P.S. -- <3 your icon ^^

ok. gays do deserve recognition... thats not the right word. but u know. people give em a lot of shit they dont deserve. i think instead of beating up gays, we should beat up people who beat up gays... that way... we have a self-perpetuating system of violence where the people who beat up gays would beat up the people who beat up the people who beat up gays which naturally makes the gays safe from attack. That's my plan to end homophobic violence.

haha.. I hope that is suppose to be sarcastic because that is the way I am going to take it. And what you are suggesting just proves my point on politics in general: reverse hate/racism/violence is not the answer.

so you're saying it's okay to harras them? zcflint_05 May 20 2004, 01:41:30 UTC
while I certainly don't believe a teacher should go out of his or her way to cater to that student who is being silent(when did this become required? remind me.), if they choose to explain this, then they should be able to do it. remeber, no one's forcing them to interrupt thier Marshall Plan explination to talk about this. most day of silence participants are more than prepared to explain themselves through slips of paper that they have mass-printed(like DV participants did), in order to avoid this conflict ( ... )

NO,hence my post,"punish students who, for whatever reason, harass or otherwise demean students" silence_dogood May 20 2004, 04:25:07 UTC
1)I agree, a teacher shouldn't have to go out of his way to lecture a class on the matter- this is why I stated in my original post, "No special day is needed to achieve this goal--just caring, competent teachers" You said in your comment,"if they choose to explain this, then they should be able to do it". This is true to a certain extent. A teacher can certainly teach a class the wrongs of violence/hate to someone that is different but if this lecture turns into a campaign for gay rights then no, I am afraid to tell you that they do NOT have the "choice" to do this because it is a controversial issue and a teacher would be using a classroom as a political stage ( ... )

1) it doesn't turn into a "campaign for gay rights" if all you're doing is preaching some type of tolerance. i certainly don't believe that one certain day is the time for this, however, i don't see the problem in students who want to protest in what is a VERY non-disruptive way the problems that they face. i believe that all tolerance should be promoted(as i stated before). tolerance for all groups is of course needed ( ... )
