CHARACTER INFORMATION-
Canon Character and Series: Gold, Pokémon Special
In-Game Name: Gold Hibiki
Age: 14 15
Gender: HOT BLOODED YOUNG MALE
Position & Ship: ENTERTAINER OF AWESOME on the Amestris.

Appearance: Although Gold may not have an imposing stature due to his rather average height and weight, he makes up for it in volume and boundless energy. Like his namesake, his eyes are gold in colour, contrasting his black hair, which is in a spiky hairdo because that's what's in, baby! He also tends to be seen wearing a backwards facing cap that sports a pair of goggles when he's not using them. Dressed in clothing that promotes freedom of movement (how else would he be able to climb things like a monkey and pull off cool airboarding tricks?), it's very rare to find Gold not doing something, whether it's going for a quick airboarding run in town, or setting off on another wild goose chase for a girl who's lost her dog.

More often than not, you'll see a purple furred, monkey-like creature known as an aipom clinging to Gold's shoulder and peeking over his shoulder. The aipom's name is Ataro, and is about two feet tall, though half of that height is the length of his tail. His most distinctive features -- aside from the three finger-like appendages on the end of his tail -- are his big, beady eyes and cheeky grin, usually mimicking Gold's current expression.

Personality: Anyone's first impressions of Gold will likely consist of these words: loud, brash, and a complete kid who hasn't a whit of maturity in his bones. Gold never quite grew out of the boundless energy and self-centered personality of children, and coupled with his impatience and in-your-face nature, Gold can be quite a handful to deal with. He has an immature "I HAVE TO BE BETTER THAN YOU" mindset, though he's not above recognising other peoples' skills and kind-hearted nature (even when they're a jerkface) despite not understanding their way of doing things at all. He can be incredibly focused, but more often than not, he lets his own hot-headedness, need to show off, frustrations, big-headedness under praise and/or cute girls distract him. Additionally, he tends do what he wants, when he wants to, and has a rather disparaging opinion of authority, often deeming general law keepers as useless. However, he will show a modicrum of respect to those who proove they won't sit on their butts and twiddle their thumbs, or those who never give up!! meaning he won't refer to them by a stupid nickname like he does with everyone else. If they're lucky, that is.

Despite all this, Gold genuinely has a heart of gold; he can't turn his back when he sees someone who needs help, especially if the person in question is someone who needs protecting (though people with minor problems like old men who've lost their wallets can GTFO). He's especially caring for the young (which includes ikkle baby animals), and will do anything in his power to keep them from getting hurt and involved in a battle. However, his strongest trait is his determination; he well and truly believes that if you've got the heart and the determination, screw the nay-sayers, if you truly want to do something, you will do it! His nigh unshakable force of will shines when he's backed into a corner. Even if he tries and fails, as long as he's still alive, he won't just try and try again; he will try harder until he accomplishes what he set out to do. In other words, the phrase 'give up' has no business being anywhere near Gold.

Abilities/Weapons: Although he may be a gamblin' man, Gold's specialty is definitely pool. He even carries a spring-loaded, telescopic pool cue that also functions as a weapon. While the cue is made of an unknown material, what is known is that the cue itself is extremely difficult to break, although the telescoping mechanism can be temporarily jammed when put under high amounts of stress. In addition to his mad pool skills, he's also a decent airboarder, and not bad with a wrench given the number of times he's had to fix the thing.

Despite the fact Gold isn't one to think too hard about things, he's incredibly good at improvising to achieve a goal, whether it's as simple as quickly getting to the top of a tree, or to defend against a surprise attack. However, whatever battling skills he lacks, Gold makes up for in moxie and limitless determination. You can hit him and knock him out, but he'll always eventually get up. Even when he's hurt and quite honestly should be resting to recover his injuries, when it's a desperate time with lives at stake, Gold will keep on harrassing and keep on attacking because he just can't stop until the threat is gone.

Ataro is quite intelligent, easily understanding and following instructions from Gold, and is able to make clever decisions on his own. He's agile (being a monkey and all) and more than capable of scratching up someone's face. However, Ataro's greatest strength is his tail, which is fully prehensile due to the three, finger-like appendages on the end. Ataro's tail can be used for grappling as well as picking up items and manipulating objects. It's far stronger than his arms and allows Ataro to carry Gold's weight for a brief period of time, which is often long enough to save Gold from a nasty fall. Additionally, while his skills with the cue can't compare to Gold's, Ataro is more than capable of using it as a weapon and a tool of utility.

How well can your character hack?: While Gold is competent with using journals, pffft 'sif he can hack your shit. Why would he even want to do that?

Weaknesses: Gold's biggest weakness is definitely his tendency to leap before he looks, just as often causing bad situations as landing in them. While sometimes he might use an ounce of common sense before he jumps into the fray, once he's riled up (not difficult if you insult his pride), he won't let things go, which can easily put him into dangerous, even life-threatening situations. If it means he may lose his life to protect someone, he will gladly do it without a second thought for his own safety. He's the kind of the person who will jump into a raging river to save someone from drowning, only to end up needing saving himself.

On a less extreme scale, Gold tends to only be able to focus on one thing at a time. Unless he's specifically looking around at the environment around him to solve a problem, he generally won't pay much attention to it. If Gold's attention is on something else, it becomes incredibly easy to sneak up on him, and because he's just a kid with a lot of energy, it's not difficult to put him down for the count. Additionally, since he's used to doing whatever he wants, Gold has a distinct lack of manners when it comes to dealing with other people, which often results in people finding him obnoxious to deal with, or disciplinary action from the stricter sorts.

While Ataro is an agile little thing and strong for his size, he doesn't deal very well with getting attacked; one direct hit is usually enough to knock him down and out for a short time.

History: For as long as he could remember, Gold had lived all his life surrounded by animals. His mansion in Melior was filled with animals (some more exotic than others) that he regularly brought into town with him, eventually becoming known as the 'Animal Boy' from the 'Mansion of Animals'. He lived a easy, carefree life with his mum, playing with the animals of his mansion and listening to the singing idols of the radio. Somewhere along the way, he learned how to play gambling games, ranging from dice to cards, but the game he played the most (and became extremely good at) was pocket billiards. For some reason, his mother was never bothered by Gold's new habits.

Then, one day, about a month or two before his 15th birthday, a famous animal professor from another part of Melior dropped by Gold's area. However, ~*fate*~ meant an accidental run in with Gold, who recognised him. Not for being a well-known professor (which is what everyone else knew him for), but for being the guy who does the radio show with his favourite singing idol. After much badgering of the professor for his idol's autograph, the professor eventually agreed to give Gold her autograph... after Gold delivered a package to a certain Red Lakehaven, otherwise known as the Crownless King. That was easy enough, right?

... Except the professor only told Gold Red's location after Gold had already agreed to the deal. And that location?

THE PEAK OF A HUGE FUCK-OFF MOUNTAIN COVERED IN SNOW!!

It was a lot more effort than Gold had been expecting, and he was tempted not to play errand boy, but he was a man of his word! He'd said he would deliver this package, so he would! And so Gold set off to the mountain, sending his mum a message on his journal before he left with his trusty, monkey partner in crime, Ataro. Getting to the mountain wasn't difficult; his journey was sped up through the crowded streets of Melior with some awesome airboarding. However, climbing the mountain was extremely trying, especially when Gold wasn't prepared for it at all. But he reached the mountain peak through sheer determination and willpower, because that was just the sort of guy he was. Gold was looking forward to finally completing his delivery when... he realised Red wasn't here on the mountain peak. AH!? Did that old fart give him the wrong directions on purpose?! After investigating a little further, Gold realised Red had been here, if the dirty magazines (that Gold surrupstitiously slipped into his bag) left behind were any indication. It was like both Red and the professor were conspiring to keep him away from his autograph! Well. He'd show them! He'd get this dumb package delivered, no matter what they tried!

And so Gold began the Great Search for Red.

...Except Gold is an easily distracted person when it comes to journeys. Coupled with the fact he can't manage money to save his life (though he's okay with roughing it in the wilderness), it wasn't long before he was well and truly broke. Sensing his fortune coming from a ship that was in port (a quick glance around the side told him it was called the Amestris), Gold hopped on to make a quick buck using his mad pool skills as an entertainer and to figure out where the hell Red was.

All to deliver 6 bottles of ketchup.

SAMPLES- JOSEPH FALLS' MAGNIFICENT BEARD WILL BE NOTHING COMPARED TO GOLD'S WHEN HE GROWS UP!!
Third Person (roleplay): Gold fumed. He was at the peak of the mountain. Yet, no sign of the champion himself. Argh! Unable to stand the freezing cold, he ran into the nearby cave and unslung his bag from his shoulders. He fished out his journal, trying to connect to the Network so he could contact that old professor. Ataro shivered as a cold gust of wind swept by, clinging more tightly around Gold's neck. Turning his head so he could see Ataro better, Gold reassured the monkey, "Don't worry, Ataro! We'll be outta here soon!"

Turning back to his journal screen, Gold was met with a blank screen. "What?!" He grabbed the screen. A Cannot Connect error slowly blinked in the corner. "We must be too high up to get a signal," he mused aloud, hand going to his chin in thought. Darn! He was hoping to message that old man and complain about this first and maybe get a lead second. No point staying here!

He was just about to leave the cave (and this mountain) when Ataro jumped off his shoulder. "Huh?" Gold stopped when Ataro scampered over to a corner of the cave. Confused, Gold followed, and took the magazine Ataro handed to him, not noticing the cover and idly flipping through its pages.

... And immediately choked and blushed when he realised what kind of magazine it was. He didn't even know people could bend that wa- no, now wasn't the time! Taking one last, lingering glance at the centerfold, he slipped the magazine into his bag (for tracking purposes! Really!) before letting Ataro jump back onto his usual perch on his shoulder. Yeah... Red definitely wasn't here right now. Ugh, it was like the old professor and him were conspiring to keep him from his autograph. They could keep trying, but there was no way the'd be able to stop him from delivering this package!

Fueled by the BURNING FLAMES OF SHOUNEN DETERMINATION, Gold charged back down the mountain.

First Person (journal):
[Voice]
Hey, old grandma! Have you seen this gu- ow ow ow ow ow! [sounds of someone yelling at a 'young whippersnapper'] I'm sorry, I'm sorry, just stop hitting me! Look, he's a guy this tall, black hair, red eyes, has a face like a line? [some more nagging from the other person, including a 'no, I haven't seen him'] Alright! Thanks, nagging grandma!

[a short while later]
