my mom wouldn't give the car either and would invent certain things to deflect that from happening. because she's afraid of something happening to the car, she doesn't agree to why anyone else except her should use the car that she washes takes care and paid for and so on. that doesn't make her a bad person, just a different person, with a different background and personal history and with a different relationship to propriety
