It would seem I have missed out on taking part in my first choice elective next year (Theory & Practice in Mental Health), instead being lumped with my third choice (which I only picked because there was nothing else). I've emailed the electives co-ordinator & unit co-ordinator to see whether there's any chance of me being able to change, but alas ( Read more... )

That's really shit! I'm sorry :( There must be something you can do... Someone you can harass into giving you a place? Because that's just not on!! I'm angry for you too! I really hope you can kick someone into letting you on the course!

Aww, thanks duck! I suppose it is understandable, as if the unit co-ordinator did allow me on to the unit, he'd have to make allowances for everyone else that didn't make it too. I'm just hoping that someone will decide to drop out between now & September & manage to get myself on the course. If that doesn't happen, I'm actually considering just going along to the lectures to learn about the unit because I really am so interested in it. Perhaps if I just force myself into the class, he'll back down & let me take the assessment. It's always a possiblity!

He was so nice though (the unit co-ordinator) telling me how sorry he was to have to disappoint me & that he really hoped there'd be an opportunity to join because I seemed so keen. Fingers crossed eh?! :)

In the mean time though I bought Boosh series two & a bundle of cds to cheer myself up. Also going for a pint (or three) in a bit, so that makes me feel less miserable about the whole situation :)

(Woah, that was long!) xxxxx

Well yes, I suppose that is understandable, but you seem to have really shown how keen you are and done everything you could to get on the course, it just really annoying and sad! But I think if you are really passionate about it, why not go to the classes? I'm sure the tutor wouldn't mind, and at least he'd see how dedicated you are! Its nice that he was kind about it though, seems positive :D

Plus Boosh, CDs and beer can cure most ills :D Hope it turns out ok! (And long replies are always fun :) mine are usually pretty long too!)
