Seconds after he saw the owl fly away with the note, Gabriel felt his face drain of color.
Oh shit...ohshitohshit.
Turning in place, he moved quickly away from the owlery with his hands shoved deeply into his pockets, half trying to convince himself that Jaden wouldn't think anything of the question and maybe he could just play it off as a simple question of curiosity.
Then he could just go to the Ball with Callie like usual and forget the whole stupid business of asking anyone else.
